Kirsten.Tranter

Kirsten.Tranter Qualified Holistic Health & Wellness Coach ✨ & Creative Producer specialising in Dance & Movement 🤸🏻‍♂️. Based in the Midlands.

Hi, I’m Kirsten and I’m a dance and theatre-loving, aerial-hoop yoga fan, with two (spirited) children, a fur-baby and a passion for supporting wonderful people to live the life they deserve. It's my life passion to work with people to help them achieve success – however that looks. I am a certified health and wellness coach, as well as a creative producer specialising in dance and movement and I love working creatively with people to unearth and fulfil passions, connect to each other, find purpose, and live happier, healthier lives. Over 20 years of working in the arts world, I have spent many years facilitating growth, motivation and positive change for teams and individuals. Working in 2 dance development organisations, an arts venue, and some time working in Shanghai, China, gave me the opportunity to work on some incredible projects with amazing communities and artists. In 2015 I chose to become freelance, and have since worked with a number of small companies and individual artists to support them realise their ambitions. I have worked with, Autin Dance Theatre, Dance4, DanceXchange, FABRIC, Mac Birmingham, The Mighty Creatives, V Creates, Dance Leaders Group, Mercurial Dance, Robert Hemming, Spilt Milk, Spectra Arts, Kate Taylor, Bethany Storie, Linden Dance Company, and Brum Dance Network. I've also been on the Steering and Advisory group for Critical Mass (part of Common Wealth Games performance Project) and the West Midlands Dance Leaders Group. As a dancer at heart I have a fascination with the body, how we are put together, how we function and how we move and how we behave. My interest in nutrition (including alternative medicines), fitness and how our lifestyle affects us physically and mentally, and my passion to support others also lead me to study further and become a certified Health and Wellness Coach. As a health coach I look at the whole picture – exploring all potential angles around what’s going on in your life. There can be lots of factors affecting how you feel, and not all of them obvious. We’ll talk about your mindset, emotions, nutritional balance, fitness and lifestyle and get to grips with the things you need to focus on most. We work together on the areas that will really make a difference to YOUR life and bring about positive change. Lou Lomas and I have been reflecting on the colLABorate programme and would love to share some of the highlights...

✨ Over 80 attendees joined us across four inspiring session days — bringing together local, regional and national voices to explore creativity, connection and community!
✨ 14 guest speakers shared their insights
✨ 4 artworks commissioned, including live visual minutes by 3 amazing local artists
✨ Local venues and caterers supported the events – ensuring investment stayed right here in our area

💬 The conversations sparked new partnerships, creativity and collaborations that will keep growing beyond 2025.

Our Commitment to the Future 🌱
We’re dedicated to:
*Supporting local artists & cultural leaders to develop their practice and networks in the borough and beyond
*Championing and advocating for creativity and collaboration in the borough.
*Creating and supporting new projects and opportunities for artists, cultural leaders and communities

Next Steps & What’s Coming Up 🚀
*A monthly artist meet-up at the Abbey Theatre is launching – a space to share practice, opportunities and ideas.
*A study trip to Stoke-on-Trent in Spring 2026 to offer fresh inspiration, and connect with some of the incredible work that is happening there.
*We are working on an exciting new project!

We’ll be sharing our colLABorate impact report in the New Year which will have much more info about the programme and some of our lovely images.

Big thanks to everyone who’s joined us on this journey so far. 💛

We will continue working together to bring more exciting creative opportunities to the borough in 2026 and beyond – supporting artists and cultural leaders in authentic, and collaborative ways.

With gratitude and thanks to and

Ever noticed how drawing, dancing, or doodling can make your brain feel quieter?

When you do something creative, your brain gets a break from constant problem‑solving and ‘to‑do list mode’. Research shows creative activities work like a healthy distraction, helping to block out stress and anxiety and giving your mind space to breathe.

Studies have also found that even 45 minutes of making art can lower levels of cortisol – that’s one of the main stress hormones in your body. So while you’re painting, knitting, moving or messing around with colour, your brain is literally dialling down the stress response.

Creativity also boosts positive emotions and improves mood, which is linked to better mental health and less depression over time. And it doesn’t matter if you’re ‘good at it’ or not – the benefits come from the process, not the final product.

So if your brain feels busy or frazzled, try five minutes of something creative today: scribble, dance in your kitchen, make a quick collage, or play with words in a journal. Tiny creative moments can be a powerful way to calm your brain and reset your day.
