⚕️ High blood pressure, often called the “silent killer,” usually has no obvious symptoms — yet it is a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems.

📊 Regularly checking your blood pressure is one of the most important steps you can take for your long-term health. Small lifestyle changes such as improving your diet, increasing activity, and reducing salt can make a significant difference.

🚭 No Smoking on NHS Grounds 🚭

To keep our sites safe and healthy for everyone, smoking is not permitted anywhere on NHS grounds – this includes all buildings, entrances, gardens, and car parks.

Despite clear signage, some patients and visitors continue to smoke on site. We kindly ask patients, visitors, and staff to support a smoke-free environment and help protect others from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke.

Thank you for helping us keep our NHS grounds clean, healthy, and welcoming for all. 💙

The UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm. Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action.

The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.

💜 September marks the start of Urology Awareness Month. As part of this, our practice want to share with you some information relating to UTI’s 💜

UTIs are common, but recognising the symptoms early can help prevent complications. Look out for burning during urination, frequent urges to p*e, cloudy or strong-smelling urine, and tummy or back pain. If symptoms persist, speak to a pharmacist or use our online consultation tool to book an appointment in practice.

Stay informed, stay healthy.

⚠️ Important: UK Government Emergency Alert Test ⚠️

On Sunday 7th September, the UK government will run a nationwide emergency alert test.
📱 All compatible mobile phones will make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate — even if they are on silent or do not disturb.

This could put people at risk if they have a secret or secondary phone that they need to stay hidden, such as:

▪️Refuge residents
▪️Domestic abuse survivors
▪️Anyone relying on a private phone for safety

👉 To protect yourself:

Turn off emergency alerts on any hidden phones.

Go to Settings → Notifications → Emergency Alerts (the exact steps vary by device) and switch them off.

Make sure the phone is off or alerts are disabled before the test.

Please share this widely — it could help keep someone safe. 💙

🚨 Missed Appointments Are Costing the NHS 🚨
❗️ In August alone, 5 patients each missed 2 or more appointments without cancelling.
❗️ Over the past 6 months, 153 patients have failed to attend 2 or more appointments.
❗️ In August, we issued 92 text messages and 83 letters reminding patients of their missed appointments — at a cost to the NHS.
💬 Every missed appointment is a wasted opportunity for another patient in need.
💥 These absences impact your care, our staff, and already stretched NHS resources.
✅ If you can’t attend, please cancel in advance — it takes a minute, but it makes a massive difference.
📄 Read our DNA Policy (Did Not Attend) found on our website.

📢 NHS Cervical Screening Results – Going Digital from September 📢

From September 2025, the NHS will begin sending negative cervical screening (smear test) results through the NHS App 📲.

✅ If your result is negative, you’ll get:

A message in your NHS App

A push notification to your phone/tablet

If you don’t open the message within 72 hours, a letter will be sent as a backup

📬 Abnormal results will still be sent by letter for now.

This change follows the successful rollout of digital invitations and reminders in June 2025 — with 9 out of 10 invitations now being sent digitally!

💡 Tip: Make sure you have the NHS App downloaded and notifications turned on so you don’t miss your results.
