🔦 MFFL CLUB SPOTLIGHT: NUNEATON🔦
Led by MFFL Admin Mike, Nuneaton MvF are one of the new additions to the 2025/26 East Championship — and they’re not here to make up the numbers. We sat down with them to get the inside story ahead of their opening fixture vs Stoke on August 10th.
❓How would you describe your team in 3 words?
Tough. Together. Capable.
❓What’s the biggest challenge facing Nuneaton this season?
Numbers, without a doubt.
Nuneaton come from a smaller Man v Fat league — just four teams on a Wednesday night — so recruitment isn’t as simple as it might be for clubs with larger sessions or multiple nights.
We’ve got a few ex-players back, and some friends of friends who are BMI-eligible and up for it, but keeping the squad strong while sticking to the ethos of Man v Fat is going to be key.
❓What’s your number one goal this season?
To be competitive.
It’s a simple answer, but it means a lot.
We made the decision as a group to join the East Championship rather than the Development League — and we’d only played two friendlies at that point. That shows the attitude of the squad. We want to give it a real go.
❓Is there a team you’re hoping to draw in the cup?
We don’t really have a Derby, sitting right on the East/West border. But if we get Leicester in the Cup, it’ll mean a lot to a few of the lads, so fingers crossed!
❓Who are the players to watch this season?
There’s a great blend of experience and new blood at Nuneaton.
- Martin Morris and Ollie Creese bring proven MFFL pedigree after transferring from Leicester.
- Jay Hughes is the man leading the line and causing problems up top.
- Tom Bailey and Tom Yates offer pace and versatility across the pitch.
- And Sean Jackson has already been "chipping" in with goals during pre-season — we’ll let you interpret that how you like…
More club spotlights coming soon throughout the season!
