Nuneaton & North Warwickshire Family History Society - nnwfhs Helping you discover your ancestors in North Warwickshire. We welcome all levels of interest, whethe We welcome all levels of interest.

Family History is one of the most pleasurable and fastest growing leisure activities today. It is very interesting but can be a daunting task for the beginner. The NNWFHS started life as the Nuneaton Family History Group. Because of our rapidly increasing membership and the family interests that many of our members have in North Warwickshire we expanded our area and changed our name to reflect this in April 1998. In 2009 we reviewed our working area again and included a few new parishes. If you are starting out, we can set you on the right path and show you how and where to access the records you need. If you are stuck, we can show you where to go next. We can also help you to find other people who share your surname interests and , although we cannot help you to find living relatives, we do understand that you may wish to find long-lost cousins.

Why don't you join us at our next online meeting?
Tuesday 10th March, 7.30pm on Zoom
Linda Hammond – Evidence Analysis: Proving What You Think You Know.
Linda is a firm favourite of NNWFHS and is already scheduled to talk to us twice this year! This talk introduces you to the tools and methods that turn uncertain clues into sound conclusions. You’ll learn the difference between information, evidence, and proof; how to distinguish direct, indirect, and even negative evidence; and why the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) is your best safeguard against errors.

Members will be sent the Zoom link on the Sunday before the meeting. Non-members can book in the for talk using Eventbrite. Tickets £5. Tickets go on sale 1 month before the event.

Family History Societies survive because of volunteers. Every hour given helps protect records, knowledge, and heritage. You do not need to commit a huge amount of time and can get involved in many different ways. More working on the WWI database today and I discovered Captain Eric Percy Coventry Back. His father was the Rev Back at Maxstoke. Captain Back sadly died when his ship, HMS Natal, exploded at Cromarty Firth. If you want to read more about him, just Google his name. Very interesting!
