As a massage therapist, I treat a very wide range of painful conditions, but today I wanted to talk about headaches and migraines; an issue so common, a lot of sufferers don’t even really consider it a real problem, and feel they have to just ‘get on with it'.
In actual fact, headaches and migraines can very often be significantly lessened, or even, completely eradicated, with some simple trigger point therapy.
Trigger points are small areas of tightly contracted muscle, which form in certain patterns, referring pain to other parts of the body, frequently being the hidden cause of headaches and migraines.
Here at Rutland Massage Clinic, trigger point therapy is combined with a variety of soothing and relaxing techniques to most effectively ease your pain, without – you guessed it – reaching for the pills!
The pictures show just a couple of examples of pain pathways which affect the head. There are many, many more, throughout the whole body – watch this space for more fascinating little insights into what is causing your pain and discomfort, and how massage therapy can help to take away the pain.
Or, if you don't share my enthusiasm for understanding how the human body works, just book an appointment and let me do the thinking for you!
