It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at Pepper’s in Oakham… 🎄✨

Our beautiful tree has been dressed with love by some of our wonderful members — and it’s brought such a joyful glow to the centre already.

And over at Growers Row yesterday, we had the perfect winter scene: crisp sunshine, chilly air, warm cups of tea, and the most gorgeous Christmas wreaths being created with Root and Branch Out. The company was as lovely as the wreaths — laughter, chatter, muddy boots, and plenty of festive spirit.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make the day feel so magical.
Here’s to more moments like this as we head into December 💚

🌿 Christmas Wreath Making – Tomorrow in at Growers Row, Oakham! 🎄

We’re really looking forward to seeing you tomorrow for a festive afternoon of wreath-making and winter crafting between 1pm and 3pm.

Just a quick reminder for everyone joining us at Growers Row — we’ll be in the polytunnel at Rutland Showground (opposite BP and Aldi in Oakham). It’s cosy, but it can be a little chilly at this time of year, so please do wrap up warm!

📍 Where to find us:
Head into Rutland Showground and you’ll spot the gardening area behind the hedge on the left-hand side of the entrance, directly opposite the car park.
LE15 7TW

We still have two places available if anyone would like to join us. - email oakham@peppersasafeplace.co.uk or drop us a text 07714 503556

Donations towards the cost of materials would be very gratefully received 💚

Thank you to Siggy Atherton, Mayor of Melton, for arranging a fantastic quiz night in aid of Pepper’s and Melton Mencap
We took three teams including staff, volunteers, members and friends, and we did ourselves proud! We also had the best food platter there with posh crisps and smoked salmon😀 A great night for great causes (even if we do say so ourselves!)🥰

An Introduction to Pepper’s - A Safe Place

Pepper’s A Safe Place is Support group based in Oakham. It was set up to offer volunteering opportunities to people in Rutland with severe and enduring mental health conditions. It is currently a place where people can meet in a safe, informal and welcoming environment whilst enjoying a cup of coffee or a bowl of soup. As our volunteers grow in confidence they will be invited to expand and run the centre. Having a go at being part of the centre will enable people to build work skills and self-esteem, to develop a role, structure and routine and, above all, to feel a sense of belonging and achievement. The aim is that Pepper’s is used as a stepping stone for a more formal work arrangement and a move towards greater independence. Our website has more information https://www.peppersrutland.co.uk/
