...not a counsellor
I think that many people struggle with day to day aspects of life. Over the last few years I have taken up yoga, tai chi and spend a bit of time each day just sitting in stillness. The challenge for me is how to bring the sense of calm I gain from these activities into my daily life. What’s the use of meditating and reaching higher states of well being if that is shattered as soon as you step back and see the dishes aren’t done, laundry needs folding, you have a deadline at work and your mother in law has yet again eaten all your favourite biscuits!
The work I do with folk is getting people to meet their moment, whatever that is; don’t feed it and don’t fight it. I enable people to support themselves more in their lives and gain a sense of steadiness. I offer a safe place in which you can explore your relationship with your anxieties, frustrations, resentments however small or large they may seem. You can develop skills to support and nurture yourself by drawing on your inner resources. So, although I am not a counsellor or therapist, the work I do is therapeutic. It’s up to you how deep you want to go on own journey. The first step may be to explore your current attitudes and relationship to your life.
