St. Conan’s Kirk Christmas Tree Festival 🌲

This is the time of year when the magic of the Christmas Tree Festival returns to St. Conan’s Kirk. Oban Hospice Dove Services is pleased to once again have our Christmas tree join the forest of other participants in the stunning surroundings of the Kirk. This year, our tree is called the ‘Message Tree,’ and it features messages of hope, inspiration, memories, peace, wishes, and wellbeing, all written by the community.
Thank you to Margaret and Mary Flora from our Dove Services volunteer team, who were busy today setting up. Also, thank you to all the volunteers who make this inspiring event possible at St. Conan’s Kirk.

Oban Dove Centre Awareness - Pancreatic Cancer Awareness

November is pancreatic cancer awareness month. It includes World Pancreatic Cancer Day, which falls on the third Thursday in November.

About 10,500 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the UK each year. Pancreatic cancer is the 10th most common cancer in the UK.

This month is important because it helps to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer, its symptoms, and what support is available for people who are living with pancreatic cancer.

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. Discover how you can get involved this year to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer.

Thank you to everyone who attended our annual Winter Festival Oban Old Slide Show on Friday evening. This marked the fourth year that the volunteers of our Oban Hospice Fundraising Group have organised this event, this years talk was give by Bob MacCulloch (pictured with some members of the fundraising team). Bob shared his knowledge, and pictures from his collection, with the many attendees. The audience also enjoyed a break for tea/coffee and delicious home baking, organised by the fundraising group. The evening, from the donations made for entry as well as a splendid raffle, raised a grand total of just shy of £1,000.
We would also like to thank Amanda MacPhail for hosting the event at Argyllshire Gathering Hall and our fantastic volunteer Fundraising Team.
All of the funds raised will be used locally to support our Dove Services (Dove Centre, Dove Outreach, and Dove Befriending) to support those in ours community.
