My aim is to introduce people to Mindfulness, and to help them develop their undersrtanding of the practice in a relaxed, friendly and unique environment. Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way on purpose in the present moment and without judgement [Jon Kabat Zinn.] Through learning to not judge myself and measure myself against others’ examples or expectations, I have found that when I get it right, I feel calm and balanced. Developing my practice has already helped me manage a lifelong disability as an amputee, as well as episodes of depression and a recent diagnosis of Fibromyalgia, a rare and difficult pain condition. Now, having studied the subject for years and after gaining a qualification to teach, I feel passionately about passing this powerful way of looking at the world onto others. This passion, combined with an enthusiasm for delicious healthy food and a deep love of my home and its beautiful surroundings, is how The Sky Garden Retreat was born. Starting with one day workshops on weekends, with small groups of 4-6 people, visitors to The Sky Garden retreat will explore and experience meditation, mindfulness exercises and enjoy some truly wonderful nutritious food.
