We had a Special visitor for Valentine’s Day today. The Valentines White Rose steam train, locomotive 34067 Tangmere.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all our wonderful SEND parents and amazing children! ❤️

Today is a beautiful reminder that love comes in many forms — patience, understanding, resilience, advocacy, small victories, big breakthroughs, quiet moments, and loud celebrations.

To our incredible parents and carers: your strength, dedication, and unconditional love do not go unnoticed. You are champions every single day. The care you give, the battles you fight, and the joy you create for your children are truly inspiring.

To our brilliant children: you are unique, valued, and deeply loved just as you are. Your courage, creativity, and individuality make the world a brighter place.

Valentine’s Day isn’t just about cards and chocolates — it’s about celebrating the powerful, unwavering love that holds families together through every challenge and every triumph.

Sending warmth, appreciation, and so much love to our entire SEND community today and always. 💖

Hot off the press! What are your thoughts?

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/family-routes-exploring-the-needs-and-experiences-of-young-people

This report presents findings from the first wave of the Family Routes study,
commissioned by the Department for Education (DfE) The study was designed to explore the needs, experiences, and outcomes of young people (aged 12–25) growing up in adoptive
and special guardianship families in England, to improve understanding of long-term
outcomes and inform policy and practice.

This research was conducted prior to any cuts to the ASGSF and does not include children under the age of 12.

Among the recommendations (page 100-102) of this study, commissioned by the government, state that families need:

⚫️ To be listened to when seeking help. Evidence from this study and others shows
that many adopted and special guardianship young people need additional
support to thrive. Nevertheless, families often felt dismissed when they try to seek
help, leading to delays and increased strain on adoptive parents and special
guardians.

⚫️ Improved access to mental health support and therapies, throughout childhood and adolescence. The complexity of needs associated with multiple risk
exposures, both in-vitro and in early childhood, should not be a barrier to
accessing effective help. CAMHS and therapeutic support providers must have a
good understanding of the specific contexts and needs of adopted and special
guardianship young people. The ASGSF is an essential route to this support and
should be retained and promoted, particularly to special guardians.

Support for the ASGSF keeps coming, even from within government commissioned research but will the government listen? Department for Education

We are still waiting to hear plans for 26/27 and for consultation. These repeated delays will cause harm to children, young people and their families.

Our Research and Development colleagues👩‍⚕️🧑‍⚕️are seeking participants to join a series of focus groups to discuss the ongoing development of a medical device which can be used in a paediatric emergency.

The device is being developed to help improve accuracy in administering medications to poorly children and aiming to enhance their care, so if you have a child family member who's experienced a paediatric medical emergency or have been involved in the hospital admission of a child, we would appreciate your input💬.

This is a reminder that in 2026, sustainable success isn’t about running on empty — it’s about filling our cup with the right things. Peace to think clearly, health to perform consistently, joy to stay engaged, gratitude to value trust, hopeto keep moving forward, and love in the form of respect and genuine care.

For many of us, this comes after a year that has not been easy. A year marked by losses, transitions, and unexpected change — both personally and professionally. Seasons like these reshape priorities, test resilience, and remind us that we are human first.

When we prioritise our own wellbeing, we’re better equipped to serve our ourselves with focus, empathy, and excellence. And when we look after each other as professionals, parents, and carers we create environments where collaboration is stronger and outcomes are better for everyone.

As professionals, clients don’t just benefit from our expertise — they benefit from our energy, mindset, and presence. Let’s be intentional about refilling our own cups so we can continue to deliver meaningful, high-quality work.

2026, the Year of the Horse, reminds us of strength, endurance, and steady progress. A horse cannot run well without rest, nourishment, and care — and neither can we. True momentum comes not from constant speed, but from knowing when to pause, recover, and move forward with purpose.

By prioritising our wellbeing, we show up more present, patient, and focused — not only for us, but also for the people who rely on us. And when we look after each other, we build cultures that recognise the whole person, not just the issue.

Because the best outcomes come from professionals, parents, and carers who are well, supported, and allowed to be human.

Many changes coming to Achieve in 2026 to make things more accessible for all, but for now we are refilling our own cups ready to restart. We can’t wait to see you all 🥰

A beautiful afternoon undertaking EcoSensory! We listened, touched, looked, and smelt. We even talked about big and little emotions (shhhh!) and the ripple effect they have by using small and big stones in the water 💧.

The result - CALM ☺️
