In-Motion Movement Therapy

In-Motion Movement Therapy I simply love movement! My background is in dance and fitness, pulmonary exercise and pilates.

I am also a AMN practitioner and my approach is looking at the body as a whole, no system in the body functions alone.

I'm rather pleased with myself, publishing another blog on my website, without completely messing it up. This is just a short one but knowledge worth understanding. I hope you pop on and have a read. Thanks kindly

These are all senses and information that is provided to the brain relative to feeling. They inform our brain and our brain responds with its primary directive in mind, survival of the individual.

NEW CLASS

I'm very excited to be offering an in-contact class that is seated and standing, in Okehampton to finally replace my old pre covid pulmonary class.

This class will be suitable for all abilities and include fascia, bio-mechanics and breathe education that will give YOU the tools and understanding to help yourself feel better and manage movement restrictions.

Please get in touch if you have any questions and a huge thanks to Inspiration for offering me this space to get us started. I look forward to our first class on Wednesday.

We Move Because We Sense

Before every muscle contracts, before every joint moves… your brain is listening.

The human nervous system is wired with far more sensory fibres than motor fibres. That means your movement is not just something you “decide” to do, it’s something your body responds to.

Sensory input, from your skin, muscles, joints, eyes, inner ear, even the stretch of connective tissue, floods your brain with constant updates:

Where am I? How much load am I under? What’s my balance like?

Your brain takes this sensory map and crafts a motor strategy.

This is why:

A wobbly surface changes your muscle activation instantly.

Closing your eyes can shift your balance.

Touching an area can improve control and awareness.

We are, first and foremost, sensory organisms. Movement is a conversation between what we feel and how we respond.

🧠 Feel more, move better.

Movement is medicine

Fascia and what we understand about our global development has made an enormous impact on how we approach dysfunction in the body. Alternative therapies (in my opinion) are racing ahead because we strive to keep learning.
Having a degree doesn't mean your education can stop when you're a wellness or movement coach of any kind. Yes you need to earn a livable income, but your ethics and responsibilities should have you constantly seeking to learn, grow and understand further because YOU CARE.
If its just a job or a way to pay the bills you're in the wrong field.
Education and healing never stop and sit hand in hand

Diaphragmatic movement is the constant training ground for the pelvic floor - when the diaphragm moves, the pelvic foor moves.

For the pelvic floor to work synergistically with the diaphragm, it's needs to be flexible and responsive.

We don't train for a flexible or responsive pelvic floor by always pre-contracting it.

By allowing the pelvic muscles to adjust to the changing pressures of the abdomen (powered by the diaphragm) we encourage adaptive support for the pelvic organs.

Stop gripping, start moving.

The pelvic floor isn’t just a “hammock” of muscles...

It’s a dynamic, viscoelastic dome, constantly adjusting to support your organs, spine, and pelvis with every cough, step, and breath.

It’s not a passive sling.

It’s a reactive, responsive powerhouse.

Movement is medicine

No jokes, your fascia is not only a connective tissue, it is a communication system of your brain, heart, gut, experience, feelings and everything in-between.
Your body expresses what your mind suppresses, don't make it worse by using negative self talk!
