We sometimes forget how much our children are watching...... Recently I overheard one of my littles quote me when another stubbed their toe, "let the pain wash over you, its okay to cry, need a hug?"

Before we prepare the body for birth, we must prepare the heart.

When both birth parents take the time to tend to their emotional healing acknowledging and addressing unresolved trauma they lay the foundation for a more empowered, connected, and conscious birthing experience.

Because birth isn’t just physical it’s emotional and spiritual too.
When the heart is at peace, birth can unfold with clarity, calm, and confidence from conception through to postpartum.

We have all been taught to be strong.
To hold it together. To push through.
But much of what we’ve called ā€œstrengthā€ has been silence, suppression, and survival.

The truth is this it’s okay to feel.
It’s okay to break open.
It’s okay to speak your truth.

But let’s be honest
Not everyone is a safe space😢
Not everyone has learned how to hold pain theirs or anyone else’s😢
Some will meet your honesty with compassion
Others may respond with fear, judgement or even defence not out of malice but out of unhealed wounds of their own.

That’s why healing starts with accountability.
Healing starts with becoming self-aware enough to stop blaming, and start breaking cycles.
Healing starts with recognising where your unresolved trauma is shaping your choices in relationships , in parenting, in how you show up for others… and also how you show up for yourself.

Because healing isn’t just for you.
It’s for your children.
It’s for safe births and soft landings.
It’s for families that no longer pass down pain like an inheritance.

We need each other not just to survive, but to heal.
To hold space for truth without shame.
To grow into the parents, partners, friends, and community members we were meant to be.

Healing isn’t weakness.
It’s legacy work.

Indeed, play is so much more than entertainment. It’s a child’s first language a sacred way of expressing, learning, exploring, and connecting with the world around them. From that very first coo, wiggle and eye contact, babies begin to make sense of life through play.

That’s how they communicate before words.
It’s how they build trust, process emotions, and develop confidence.
It’s how they begin to think.

As caregivers, when we honour play, we honour the deep intelligence and sensitivity that lives in every child.
Let’s protect their space to play freely, fully and often.

Because from the very beginning, play is learning.

And it starts from birth. 🌱

A Call for Self-Awareness and Balance šŸ“Œ

Like many people have you spent years over-functioning constantly
over-extending yourself , carrying responsibilities that aren’t yours, and pushing through exhaustion as if it were a badge of honour?
Whether driven by duty, survival, or a deep-seated belief that you must always be "strong," you have learned to suppress your own needs in favour of keeping everything and everyone else afloat.

But at what cost?

Over-functioning often stems from childhood patterns, societal conditioning, or environments where survival depended on being hyper-capable.
It can look likešŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡
- Always being the problem-solver, even when no one asked you to be.
- Struggling to delegate because you feel things won’t be done "properly" without you.
- Feeling guilty when you rest because productivity has become your default mode.
- Rescuing others at the expense of your own well-being.

While it may feel like you are being helpful, over-functioning can create unhealthy dynamics. āš ļøIt can breed dependency in others, resentment in yourself, and, ultimately, burnout. It also robs you of the ability to receive support, leaving you trapped in a cycle of exhaustionāš ļø

The antidote?
šŸ‘‰Self-awareness and balancešŸ‘ˆ

Be socially intelligent and recognise when you are doing too much and allow others to step up.
āœ…Challenge your beliefsāœ…
ask yourself, Why do I feel responsible for everything?

Self-sacrifice should not be a way of life. If you find yourself constantly exhausted, it’s time to pause, reflect, and reassess.
