❄️Safe Sleep in Cold Weather❄️

As temperatures drop, it can be tempting to wrap up your baby to keep them warm while sleeping. It is important to remember that babies can overheat, and it is safer for them to be a little cool than too hot🌡️

Keep the room between 16-20°C, dress your baby in light layers and use lightweight bedding or a baby sleeping bag🚼

Avoid:
Hats indoors
Thick bedding or weighted blankets
Hot water bottles
Placing your baby next to a radiator or other heat source
Check your baby's chest or neck to ensure they’re not too hot. If they are clammy or sweaty, remove a layer of clothing.

To make every sleep a safe sleep, remember babies sleep safest on their back, in a cot or Moses basket, in the same room as you.

When safer sleeping for your baby in the winter, it's important not to use too many layers which may increase the risk of SIDS...

💜💜 Below is a list of pop-up flu clinics for 2 – 3-year old. If you have not yet had your child vaccinated please see the list for dates, times and locations of upcoming clinics. Flu can be very unpleasant for children and can sometimes cause serious problems, such as pneumonia. 📣 Flu Season Update - Please Read

As we move further into flu season, we’re seeing a rise in flu like illnesses. To help keep everyone safe, especially vulnerable patients, we are encouraging telephone consultations for triaged patients. Flu is viral and in most cases, can be self limiting and self managed.

If you’re experiencing flu like symptoms such as:
• Fever
• Cough
• Sore throat
• Body aches
• Fatigue

In the first instance, we are encouraging all patients to utilise the pharmacy first service. Clinicians at the pharmacy are able to deal with the above. You can use the link to find participating pharmacies close to you. https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/pharmacy/find-a-pharmacy Or please ring the surgery for a referral to be made. All consultations are saved to patient record.

💉 Flu vaccinations are still available.
We still have appointments for flu vaccinations for eligible NHS patients. Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself and others this winter. Please contact reception to book your flu jab.

For more information about flu, symptoms, and who is eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination, visit: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/flu/
