๐Ÿ’š Mental Health Awareness Week | 11โ€“17 May ๐Ÿ’š
This week, we join the NHS in recognising that mental health is just as important as physical health.
Mental Health Awareness Week is a chance to:
โœ… Talk openly about mental wellbeing
โœ… Check in with friends, family, and colleagues
โœ… Reduce stigma
โœ… Remind ourselves that support is always available
If you or someone you know is struggling, help is there โ€” you donโ€™t have to face things alone.
๐Ÿ“ž Support is available:

Urgent mental health support: Call NHS 111 (24/7) to be directed to your local NHS mental health crisis line
Samaritans: 116 123 (free, 24/7) โ€“ for anyone feeling overwhelmed or in distress
Emergency support: Call 999 or go to A&E if you or someone else is in immediate danger

Reaching out is a sign of strength. Letโ€™s continue to look after each other and be kind to our minds. ๐Ÿ’š

Teachers invited to attend asthma event to improve attendance and safety

Teachers are invited to attend a free event to help them give the best care possible to pupils who live with asthma.

Thousands of children in Greater Manchester have the condition and the half-day session will see NHS clinicians give staff simple steps they can take to improve support for children.

This could lead to an improvement in attendance figures, as well as reduce the risk of pupils becoming unwell at school.

Anyone involved in improving health, safety and inclusion for children in school is welcome to attend, including local authority leads, public health teams, paediatric, respiratory and other relevant clinical professionals, childrenโ€™s services leaders, commissioners and system partners.

The event will also see the launch of the city regionโ€™s first asthma guide, which gives schools clear, practical advice.

The event is being held by NHS Greater Manchester on Thursday, February 12, 9.30am-12.30pm, followed by a networking lunch, at the British Muslim Heritage Centre, College Road, Manchester, M16 8BP.

Go to https://www.events.england.nhs.uk/events/greater-manchester-asthma-friendly-schools-launch-event for more information and to register.
