🫀There are several ways you can reduce your risk of developing heart disease, such as not smoking, getting enough sleep, reducing alcohol, eating healthier food and being physically active.
🫀Women's cardiovascular health can be affected by menopause. If you experience increased blood pressure or are worried, speak with your GP.

Today is 💙 Time to Change

🌸 It's so important that we speak up on mental health. This helps create supportive communities where we can talk openly about our mind and mental well-being and feel empowered to seek help when we need it.

If you are in need of support, speak to someone - a friend or family member or reach out to a medical professional. You are not alone.❤️

Mind and Rethink Mental Illness offer some useful information on how to seek help:

oday marks the start of Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week

You do not have to wait for an emergency situation to find help - abuse is never ok. If you have or are experiencing abuse, it’s important to tell someone and remember you are not alone. Please reach out - you won't be wasting anyone's time.❤

If you know someone who has experienced sexual abuse, listen to them, ask how they’re feeling, understand and take care not to blame them.

Is your baby ready to start weaning? Introducing baby to solid foods should start when they are around 6 months old.

Signs your baby may be ready to start weaning:
🥦 They can stay in a sitting position, holding their head steady.
🥦 They can coordinate their eyes, hands and mouth so they can look at their food, pick it up and put it in their mouth.
🥦 They can swallow food (rather than spit it back out).

Behaviours that can be mistaken for signs of being ready:
🍼Chewing fists.
🍼Wanting extra milk feeds.
🍼Waking up in the night (more than usual).

Weaning your little one can be especially difficult if you are living in a temporary accommodation such as a hotel or a B&B. Swipe for some practical tips if you don’t have a lot of room or cooking facilities ➡

Today is 🫂💙

Hugging is proven to reduce stress and has many benefits for our health. Hug your loved ones to share the love and affection you feel for them. If someone you know is going through a difficult time, offer them a comforting hug to show your support and empathy. Remember to be kind to yourself and give yourself a hug as well. ❤

It is 🎗️
If you are a woman or a person with a cervix aged 25-65, it is important that you book your smear tests to prevent cervical cancer.🩷
You can respond to your cervical screening invitation letter or book a nurse appointment at your GP practice. If you missed your last screening, you do not need to wait for a letter and can book anytime.

It is not as scary as you think it is. If you are nervous, speak to a nurse, or a health visitor working with you. You don't have to do it alone.

It is coughs and colds season 🩺🌡

👩🏽‍⚕️Useful information for parents with children under 5:
• It is normal for children to have 8 or more colds each year.
• A cough can last for 3 weeks and can wake your child at night - this does not mean their illness is more severe.
• You can give paracetamol and ibuprofen for a temperature - check the packaging for advice on how much medicine to give and how often.
• Contact your GP or 111 if your child's temperature does not settle with paracetamol or ibuprofen, or if the temperature lasts for more than 5 days
•If you don't have a thermometer, you can identify a temperature if your child's chest or back feels hotter than usual. They may also feel sweaty or unwell.
• Your child might not want to eat food if they've got a temperature - that's okay! The most important thing is that they're encouraged to drink plenty, including some drinks that contain sugar.
