This November some valuable statistics on breastfeeding were released, along with a very positive message. The prevalence of breastfeeding at 6-8 weeks in England increased to 55.6% in 2024-2025. This is the highest since 2015 when the current data collection began! See some more info on breastfeeding below:

To help improve protection for our youngest children this winter, Oldham has been selected as the pilot area for Drop-in flu vaccine clinics, which will be delivered in Oldham Library and selected Family Hubs over the coming weeks.

The next Drop-in vaccine clinic is tomorrow, Thursday December 11th at Oldham Library on Greaves Street from 12pm-2pm. If your child has not had their flu vaccine, please attend to keep them protected this winter.

Winter can be a difficult time. Health services come under increased pressure and many of us are more likely to see a dip in our health and wellbeing – especially those who are more vulnerable. So, it’s more important than ever that people get to know where to go if they are unwell or need extra help and support.

The festive period can be particularly tricky with some health services closing and others changing their opening hours over bank holidays.

Christmas may be magical for some, but it can feel isolating, or it may exacerbate existing mental health challenges. We want to make sure people know where they can find extra support when they need it.

As part of Joe Wicks’ new Activate series, BBC Children in Need are bringing schools a LIVE Activate moment on Friday 14th November.

Tune in and join Joe and Pudsey as they take on a series of challenges with characters and friends from across the BBC. Your school will get the chance to interact with Joe and take part in the Activate challenge – a perfect way to celebrate BBC Children in Need Day with your class or school and energise your fundraising.

The livestream is an extension of Joe’s new Activate series, backed and supported by the Department of Health & Social Care, Department for Education and Department for Culture, Media and Sport. The latest episodes are available on BBC i-Player.
