Do you keep being told your horse needs ā€œmore leg,ā€ ā€œmore contact,ā€ or ā€œmore workā€... but deep down you know something still isn’t adding up? 🐓

What if the issue isn’t laziness?

What if it isn’t weakness?

What if your horse isn’t being difficult at all…

What if performance problems are actually about coordination, stress, compensation, discomfort, fatigue, or even the interaction between your body and theirs?

Modern performance science has changed how we understand movement completely.

Because horses are not machines.

And riders are certainly not perfectly symmetrical athletes floating effortlessly around the arena (if only šŸ˜‚).

In our latest blog, we dive into:

āœ” Why movement is controlled by the nervous system—not just musclesāœ” Why strength alone doesn’t create better performanceāœ” How stress changes biomechanicsāœ” Why asymmetry isn’t always a problemāœ” Why horse and rider should be viewed as ONE performance systemāœ” Why ā€œtrying harderā€ can sometimes make things worse

If your horse feels:⚠ crooked⚠ inconsistent⚠ tense⚠ resistant⚠ weak behind⚠ difficult to sit to⚠ ā€œnot quite rightā€ but hard to explain…

This is for you.

Because sometimes better performance doesn’t come from doing more.

It comes from understanding more.

Why Better Riding Isn’t About Trying Harder

When I first stepped into online coaching and mentoring, I’ll be honest… it pushed me well outside my comfort zone.

I’ve spent years helping riders and horses in person, hands-on, one conversation, one assessment, one breakthrough at a time. Moving into the online world felt unfamiliar, exposed, and at times a little daunting.

But what I didn’t expect was just how much purpose it would give me.

Because suddenly, we weren’t just helping horses in our local area… we were helping riders and horses across the country — and even around the world.

Seeing messages, testimonials, and thank you notes from riders who feel more confident, horses moving more comfortably, owners finally understanding why their horse has been struggling… that means more than I can put into words.

So to every single person who has taken the time to send a message, leave a testimonial, share your journey, or simply say thank you — truly, thank you. ā¤ļø

You may think it’s ā€œjust a review,ā€ but for a small business with a big mission, it means everything.

At The EquiCan Academy, this has never been about quick fixes or gimmicks.

It’s about helping horse owners become more informed, more confident, more ethical, and better equipped to help their horses thrive.

If you’re struggling with your horse’s behaviour, movement, confidence, performance, back pain concerns, symmetry questions, rider biomechanics, or simply feel overwhelmed with conflicting advice… please know, we can help you too.

Sometimes all it takes is the right guidance, the right mentorship, and someone to help you connect the dots.

Ever put yourself out there online to help people… only to discover strangers are deeply concerned about your eyelashes? šŸ˜…

Social media can be an incredible place to educate, inspire and connect with horse lovers around the world.

It can also be weird, brutal, judgemental, and occasionally completely unhinged.

I’ve experienced it personally.

But here’s what I’ve learned… if showing up helps even ONE horse owner make a better decision, feel more confident, or improve their horse’s welfare, it’s worth it.

If you’ve ever hesitated to post because of fear of judgement, criticism, or ā€œwhat people might say,ā€ this one’s for you.

Most riders spend years trying to improve their horse…

…but never properly train the body sitting on top of it.

Your horse feels EVERYTHING.

Your balance.
Your posture.
Your stiffness.
Your tension.
Your asymmetry.
Your stability.
Your breathing.
Your ability to absorb movement through your hips, back, pelvis, and legs.

And if your body is not working efficiently, your horse has to compensate for you.

That’s exactly why we created our NEW Pilates for Horse Riders 12 Week Online Programme at The EquiCan Academy.

This is not generic Pilates.

This is a rider specific programme designed by professionals who understand horse rider biomechanics, performance, posture, rehabilitation, strength, mobility, and balance.

Inside the programme you’ll learn how to:
• Improve your balance and stability in the saddle
• Develop a stronger, quieter seat
• Improve hip mobility and pelvic control
• Build core strength specific to riding
• Create lighter hands and more elastic elbows
• Improve lower leg stability
• Reduce stiffness, tension, back pain, and hip pain
• Improve your rider position and communication with your horse

The classes are simple 30 minute sessions that can be done ANYWHERE and fit around busy rider life.

No fluff.
No random YouTube workouts.
No guesswork.

Just structured rider specific training that actually transfers into the saddle.

Because stronger, more balanced riders create happier, more comfortable horses too.

Summer is the perfect time to start investing in YOU as a rider ā˜€ļø

Join the Pilates for Horse Riders Programme now and start building the stronger, more supple, more balanced body you’ve always wanted.
