Nasolabial folds/marionette lines dermal filler 💉

This is my lovely model from my recent training day with the fabulous . Some of you may recognise her 👀 say nothing girls!

This was quite a difficult case but I felt as though I was able to achieve a subtle improvement in the appearance of the nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines) and marionetteines (jowls/mouth to jaw lines).

Teoxane RHA 1 dermal filler was placed into the areas treated using a cannula. The experience was slightly uncomfortable, but not painful, I’m told!

It was important in this case to manage this lady’s expectations. For a number of reasons, we were never going to totally ‘cure’ these areas of concern, rather we would be able to subtlely improve them.

Nasolabial folds and marionette lines are common areas of concern as we age, as the underlying bony structure resorbs and the relevant fad pads hypertrophy (grow) causing the tissue to fall forward and cause the appearance of folds and shadows on the face in these areas. It’s a tricky area to treat, to ensure that the area doesn’t look overly filled which can be a giveaway and isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing look!

I N T R O D U C T I O N S , P L E A S E 🙋🏻‍♀️

Lots of new followers on here so I thought I’d take a moment to tell you all a little about me and my business.

My name is Dr Rachel McCrabbe. I am a practising NHS doctor, GP by trade actually 👩🏻‍⚕️. I qualified with my medical degree in 2014. That means I’ve been a doctor now for 10 years?! How time flies…
I completed my GP training in 2019 and have been a GP Partner since in a local, rural GP practice. At work, women’s health is my ‘thing’, I am partial to fitting the odd IUD and love a bit of menopause.

I am currently off on maternity leave and enjoying spending time with my family. I’m a farmers wife but tend not to get involved too much in that side of things (learned that the less you know, the less you will be asked to do 😛). I am mummy to two little girls, Lottie and Poppy 🌸 💕. Some of my favourite things in life are coffee, gin, fresh air and spending quality time with my loved ones 🥰

I started this little side hustle in January 2022 and have been injecting now for almost 3 years. I have just opened my own clinic at my home address in Omagh in the last couple of months and just love spending time out there when I can get any opportunity. My treatment list has grown a fair bit since day 1 and I am loving the ability to offer my patients a range of options now for whatever their specific concern may be.

Due to the nature of my medical background, patient safety, professionalism, confidentiality and review processes are some of the values that I am passionate about. I am proud to say that the majority of my ever-growing client base is as organic as it can be, with most of my clients coming based on word-of-mouth recommendations.

I hope you feel like you know me a little better by now 💁🏻‍♀️ I am excited to see what the near future holds for this little venture of mine. Keep your eyes peeled, as they say, for bigger and better things are yet to come 😉

🚨 New treatment alert 🚨

I am so excited to now be able to offer polynucleotides in the clinic! Who hasn’t heard of polynucleotides by now?! Maybe some of you have heard of it being dubbed the ‘salmon s***m facial’ in the media? 🐟 🧬

🫧 What is it?
Put simply…polynucleotides are an injectable gel, comprising small fragments of DNA derived from fish, which mirrors human DNA. The purpose of injecting the product is to stimulate our own cells to produce some of the things we lose with aging. Up regulation of fibroblasts within the skin leads to production of collagen and elastin. This results in skin regeneration, from a cellular level.

This results in improved skin elasticity, texture, improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, and tone.

🫧 Where can we treat?
Under eye area (improve the appearance of fine, thin, wrinkly, crepey, dehydrated skin, dark circles, etc)
Face
Neck
Hair (here the polynucleotides act like ‘fertiliser’ stimulating the growth of new hair follicles in areas where hair has thinned)

🫧 Treatment protocol?
3 treatments are advised 2-3 weeks apart for optimal results. Results are generally seen about 4 weeks after completion of the course, sometimes sooner.

🫧 Is there any downtime associated with it?
It is normal for there to be some swelling in the area injected, which typically subsides within a few hours, generally maximum 24 hours. As with any injectable procedure, there is also a risk of bruising. It is a generally safe procedure otherwise.

At long last I have got myself organised and have updated my availability for the rest of the 2024 year. This includes pre Christmas appointments. (!)

In terms of the perfect timings for treatments, I would recommend:
- anti wrinkle treatment approx 4 weeks before a big event/start of the party season (ensuring you wait at least 12 weeks after your last anti wrinkle fix before booking in again)
- lip filler 2-3 weeks before
- a course of two Profhilo treatments starting at least 8 weeks before the festivities begin.

I am delighted to announce that I am now a Certified Partner of the National Medical Weight Loss Programme 🙌🏻

This means I am now trained and equipped to deliver my very own Medical Weight Loss Clinic through RM Aesthetics. It’s been a long time coming over the past few months, but a 5 month old who hasn’t slept well for the last 2 months will do that to you 😅 kept me out of badness I suppose!

I am ideally placed as a GP to prescribe (where suitable), advise and monitor you on your weight loss journey. 👩🏻‍⚕️ I can provide a trusted, confidential and accountable service.

Unfortunately, there is no funding for weight loss treatments on the NHS here, so many people who wish to address obesity and overweight rely on private providers like myself to support them on their journey. Imagine being able to prevent someone from developing diabetes, reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease such as heart attacks and strokes, give them new found confidence in their body image, improve their mental well-being? It’s incredible to hold a skill set to facilitate someone on such a personal journey to weight loss. I have seen incredible results with this programme on a personal level and this is what pushed me forward to train in this area.
