Hi everyone. There does not seem to be an end to this coronavirus pandemic but we will all learn to live with it. Hopefully we will get back to some degree of normality but until then we just gave to do as we are advised.
This includes dentistry. Those of you who have called the practice know we are not able to offer appointments like we used to. We have had severe restrictions imposed upon dentistry supposedly to protect you our patients and our staff. The irony is that dentistry has had really good cross infection control measures in place for years and I believe the dental surgery is probably one of the safest places to be.
Unfortunately however the department of Health has imposed a fallow period of one hour after an aerosol is produced in the dental surgery. An aerosol is normally produced during filling appointments, crown/veneer preps, scale and polish appointments and even while adjusting a denture. As a result we have to close the surgery nearly every time we see anyone. As a consequence, the number of patients we can now see each day is greatly reduced. This has created a long waiting list for treatments.
We understand this has created frustration among many of you but believe me this is the last thing we want at Castle Dental Studio. We do however have to follow the guidelines set out by the government.
Hopefully we will one day soon get back to normality. In the meantime keep safe, wash your hands regularly, use a clean tissue when coughing and dispose of it safely. If you have any of the symptoms of COVID 19 - persistent cough, high temperatures, or alteration to your sense of smell or taste- consult with your GP and ask for a COVID test.
We are looking forward to seeing you all over the next few months. Because we have had to prioritise our appointments, we are not offering appointments for examinations at present. We are currently working through the priority appointments as set out by the government- those patients who were seen as emergencies during the lockdown, those whose treatments were cancelled due to COVID and those in pain at present. We can only have one dentist working at a time so this will take a while. In the meantime if you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact us on 02882 251551
Thank you all for your patience.
Regards
Declan
