We’ve been keeping this one quiet… and we’re SO proud to finally share it 💛

Our very own Michelle has been selected as a finalist for the 2026 Royal College of Podiatry Awards in the James Hallam Clinical/Academic Educator of the Year category 🏆
Many of you already know just how dedicated Michelle is, not just from the care she provides in clinic, but from the passion she brings to teaching and supporting the next generation of podiatrists.
We also know (and appreciate!) how difficult it can be to get an appointment with her. As her diary fills up quickly for a reason! 😊
Thank you to all of our wonderful patients for your continued support, patience, and trust. It truly means so much.
We couldn’t be prouder 👏

🚨🚨 Got an ache in your leg that just doesn’t feel quite right? 🦵

We’re sharing this BBC clip with Dr Xand because it explains, in a really clear and friendly way, when leg pain might need a closer look. 🎥

As a clinic following NICE guidelines, we take this seriously. That’s why at Omagh Footcare we include PAD (Peripheral Arterial Disease) screening as part of our vascular assessments.

✨ It’s quick✨ It’s painless✨ And it can pick up problems early

Give the video a watch and see if anything sounds familiar. If it does, we’re here to help. 🚨🚨

📢📢***** Update Normal Service has resumed thanks to our wonderful Landlord 😁, apologies to all who had to be rescheduled today *********📢📢

**Unfortunately, due to an electrical fault, podiatry clinic appointments have had to be rescheduled.

Affected patients will have received a notification and a call this morning.
We are hopeful that the issue will be resolved in time for the evening clinic.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding.**

Chilblains – What You Need to Know

We are starting to see more cases of chilblains in clinic this month. Chilblains are small, itchy, painful, red or purple swellings that develop on the toes (and sometimes fingers) after exposure to cold temperatures. They happen when the skin is exposed to the cold and then warmed too quickly, causing the tiny blood vessels to react.

Common symptoms include:

Red, purple, or swollen patches

Itching, burning, or tenderness

Dry or cracked skin in the affected area

To help prevent chilblains:

Warm your feet slowly after being out in the cold

Avoid placing cold feet directly on radiators or in front of fires

Keep feet warm with appropriate socks and footwear

Stay active to keep circulation moving

If you’re concerned about symptoms or need professional footcare advice or we’re here to help.

👣 As temperatures drop, fall-risk rises.
And while anyone can fall, our older population are especially vulnerable.

In Northern Ireland, falls remain a major cause of serious injury, and recovery can be slow, but many falls are preventable with simple daily habits.

👣 Fall-Prevention Essentials

👣 Regular foot-care — healthy skin & nails and stable footing
👟 Well-fitted, non-slip footwear — grip matters, indoors & outdoors
🧹 Declutter walkways — remove loose mats, cables, trip hazards
💡 Good lighting — especially on stairs, hallways & outdoor steps
🧘‍♀️ Keep moving — strength & balance exercises help at all ages
🏡 Safe home setup — consider handrails, non-slip mats, tidy floors

🌟 Why this matters

Around 1 in 3 people aged 65+ will experience at least one fall each year

This increases to 1 in 2 for those over 80

Falls can lead to fractures, loss of independence & reduced confidence

Good footwear + mobility + a safe environment = powerful prevention
