It's A Duck

It's A Duck Creative coaching for women at a crossroads. You don’t have to do it alone

For every woman who’s ever thought, “Is this it?”Whether you’re in peri-menopause, lost in the chaos, or just quietly craving more- this is your space to break, rebuild, and bloom.

27/01/2026

This is fantastic news for women across the rural West.

So many women in Fermanagh and South Tyrone have been travelling long distances, waiting too long, or simply struggling on in silence and this new Women’s Health Hub at Fintona Medical Centre is a huge step in the right direction.

Huge credit to the Western Health and Social Care Trust for listening to public feedback and protecting local GP services in Fintona, Dromore, Trillick, Brookeborough and Tempo — keeping care close to home really matters, especially in rural communities
Led by Dr Kelly Maguire, access to specialist support for menopause, HRT, menstrual health, sexual health and contraception with the option to self-refer is exactly the kind of early, preventative, dignity-led care women have been asking for.

This is what progress looks like.
🦆More choice.
🦆More access
🦆More conversations.

And most importantly, women being taken seriously.

🦆🦆🦆Anyone else waiting patiently for January to just… end? 😅

The long dark evenings.

The tiredness that won’t shift.

That feeling of “I’ll feel more like myself in February”…

If menopause or peri-menopause has left you foggy, flat, snappy, emotional or just not quite you.

You are absolutely NOT alone.

🦆Menopause Monthly Meet-Up 🦆

🦆A calm, welcoming space to talk menopause in plain language, without jargon, judgement or pressure.

🦆This isn’t about fixing or forcing anything.
It’s about understanding what’s happening, sharing honestly, and leaving feeling a little lighter.

This month we’ll gently chat about:
• Why January can hit menopausal women harder
• Energy, motivation & that constant “meh” feeling
• Small, realistic shifts that actually help
• And the huge relief of realising it’s not just you

🦆🦆🦆I’ve never been a big believer that January is for resolutions, reinvention, or suddenly becoming a brand-new version of yourself.

January isn’t for pushing.

January is for resting. Resetting. Hibernating.

If you’re peri-menopausal or post-menopausal, December alone can feel like a marathon. The hormone fluctuations, the pressure to be “fine”, smiling through it, showing up when all you really want to do is run away and hide under a blanket… maybe even having a quiet cry in the toilet because it’s all just a bit too much.

So here’s your permission slip, gorgeous ladies ❤️
January is your time!

Remember nature doesn’t wake up and start blooming in January, animals are still hibernating, trees are still dormant, the earth is still resting. And we are nature too.

January is for:
🦆 reading that book you never got to
🦆 slow coffees and real conversations
🦆 reconnecting with friends
🦆reconnecting with yourself
🦆 cosy blankets, early nights, gentle days

The new beginnings?

They come when the evenings stretch, when spring appears on the horizon, when there’s a little more light, outside and inside.

So tonight, instead of setting big goals, maybe just ask:
✨ How can I be kinder to myself?
✨ What do I need more of and less of?
✨ How do I want to feel this year?

That’s more than enough for now.
Happy New Year, from one hibernating woman to another 🦆

Love,
Brenda💋

🦆🦆🦆2025… what a year 🦆🦆🦆

I only started It’s A Duck! in March 2025 and wow what a few months it’s been.
What began as a quiet nudge in my gut turned into something real, messy, meaningful and deeply human.

This year I’ve
🦆 sat with women who felt lost and didn’t know where to start
🦆 watched broken pieces turn into gold both literally and metaphorically
🦆 held space for tears, laughter, courage and massive honesty
🦆 delivered workshops, talks and programmes I once only dreamed about
🦆 trusted myself when it felt scary to do so.

It’s A Duck! was never meant to be perfect.

🦆It was meant to be real.
🦆Real conversations.
🦆Real women.
🦆Real life detours and beautiful discoveries.

If 2025 has taught me anything, it’s this
You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin.

You just need to start!

Thank you to every woman who showed up, trusted me, shared her story and reminded me why this work matters so much.❤️

The Menopause Revolution is just starting!!

Love,
Brenda 🦆

Last week, when the programme 'Stronger Than Before' came to an end, I felt a real surge of emotion.❤️

To be allowed to spend six mornings and evenings with these incredible women was an absolute honour.❤️

I still smile thinking back to the very start the looks of
“what is she on about?”
and the quiet uncertainty as we began.
And then… week by week… those looks softened.
The shoulders dropped.
The laughter grew.
And by the end, those gorgeous smiles said .

Stronger Than Before was a 6-week creative wellbeing and coaching programme I devised and delivered in partnership with Care for Cancer

It stems from a simple but powerful belief that when something is broken and carefully put back together, it can become even more beautiful than before.

🦆Through gentle coaching conversations, reflection and creativity, the women were invited to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and explore their strength in a way that felt safe, human and unhurried.

What I witnessed was warmth, courage, humour and an incredible fight within each woman.
The way they supported one another often without words was powerful.
Sometimes, sitting together in silence while they filled in the cracks with gold was more than enough. No fixing. No explaining. Just being.

These women reminded me that healing doesn’t always roar.
🦆Sometimes it whispers.
🦆Sometimes it looks like showing up when it would be easier not to.
🦆Sometimes it looks like glue, gold, quiet reflection and a room full of women who get it.

I will always be grateful to Care for Cancer for trusting me with this programme and deeply thankful to every woman who showed up with honesty, courage and heart.

These gorgeous ladies will stay with me forever❤️

Last night was our
🎄 December Menopause Monthly Meet-Up and this one felt different in the BEST way.

Numbers were low, the venue changed…
so instead of cancelling, I took a deep breath and thought:
“Let’s bring it home — literally.”

For the first time ever, the ladies stepped into It’s A Duck! HQ.
It’s not finished.
It’s not polished.
But do you know what?
It was perfect.😍

I always dreamed that this space would become a little sanctuary —
a place where women feel safe,
where honesty flows,
and where laughter literally rattles the walls.

I didn’t expect to feel that this soon.
And maybe that’s the lesson…
we don’t need everything to be “ready” or “perfect” before we show up.
We just need heart.
And we had that in buckets.

🦆We talked hormones, stress, the December wobble.
🦆We visualised exactly what we wanted Christmas to FEEL like —
and then we looked at what might get in the way.
🦆We connected the dots: our strengths, our choices, our boundaries.

Some of the ladies realised they already have the Christmas they want —
they just needed to notice it.

Others realised they can create it
even with hormones doing cartwheels.

Because Christmas is coming whether we’re “prepared” or not.
But feeling overwhelmed isn’t a given.
We get tools.
We get choices.
We get to decide what matters and what doesn’t.

And of course…
we finished with a banging tune that had us all smiling.

Can you guess what it was?
(Hint: it absolutely wasn’t Silent Night 🤣)

Love,
B 🦆

🦆 One sleep left 🦆

Tomorrow night is our December Monthly Meet-Up… and if you’re already feeling the December wobble, the emotional weight, or the “I’m smiling but I’m exhausted” vibes this night is for you.

No masks. No perfection.
Just women who get it… supporting each other through the beautiful, messy madness of Christmas.

If you’re coming I can’t wait to see you
If you’re thinking about it there’s still space for you.

You don’t have to do December on your own.
Love, B 🦆

🎄🦆 December Monthly Meet-Up Because Christmas Isn’t Merry for Everyone 🦆 🎄

If you’re already feeling the weight of December in your chest…
the busyness, the expectation, the be festive smile you’re meant to wear…

🦆the ache for people who won’t be here this year…
🦆the pressure of keeping everyone else right…
🦆the memories of Christmases that looked very different…
🦆and hormones that don’t just change daily but hourly 😵‍♀️

Then this monthly meet-up is for you!

Not everyone is counting down to Christmas with excitement.
Some of us are counting down for completely different reasons.

This meet-up is for the women who:

• feel the heaviness behind the glitter
• miss someone they wish could be here
• feel stretched thin trying to make everything perfect for everyone else
• smile on the outside while chaos brews inside
• love Christmas… and also want to run for the hills (and honestly… maybe we should meet on that hill 🤣)

On the night, we’ll:

🦆take the pressure off
🦆learn a few “get me through this” tools
🦆share a laugh (because sometimes that’s the only thing that keeps us going)
🦆and finish with a banger tune to remind you who you are when you feel like hiding in the loo

You’ll leave with:

🦆a few goodies
🦆something meaningful to keep you grounded through December
🦆and the knowing that you’re not the only one who finds this time of year beautiful, messy, emotional, triggering and overwhelming all at once.

No masks.
No “I’m fine.”
Just women supporting women even if our reasons are different.

🗓 Tuesday 2nd December 2025

Today’s su***de statistics for Northern Ireland make for heartbreaking reading.

Every number represents a person who should still be here… someone’s son, daughter, partner, parent, friend, neighbour. A life with hopes, memories and people who loved them.

My thoughts are with every family and every community carrying the weight of loss today. The ripple effect of su***de is deep and lifelong — and no one should ever have to face those feelings alone.

As a community, we must continue to:
🦆talk openly about mental health
🦆 make it easier to ask for help
🦆reach out when someone withdraws or goes quiet.

If today’s news has brought up emotions for you, or you’re worried about someone you love, please know this:

You matter. Your life matters. There is support. And you do not have to do this on your own.

📞 Lifeline is available 24/7, free and confidential

Even if you’re not sure what to say… even if you just need someone to listen… reach out.

And if someone crosses your mind today message them. Call them. Check in. It could make more of a difference than you realise.

💚 Omagh & Fermanagh Female Entrepreneur Programme Full Circle Moment 💚

Today I had the absolute pleasure of speaking to the gorgeous ladies on the 2nd cohort of the Female Entrepreneur Programme Fermanagh and Omagh District Council

Sitting in that room brought everything full circle for me.
I was in their seat not that long ago, when It’s A Duck! was nothing more than an idea, a spark, a “what if”… and a whole lot of self-doubt.

Joining this programme was one of the best decisions of my business life.

The training, the accountability, the structure, and the mentorship (thank you Lydia and the incredible Pinnacle Growth Group team Owen and Jenna) genuinely changed the course of my business. I can honestly say It’s A Duck! would not be where it is today without it.

Because starting a business is lonely, scary, and messy especially when you're in the thick of peri-menopause and trying to balance fluctuating confidence, energy, hormones, hot flushes and a dream you’re terrified to say out loud.

Today I came back as a guest speaker to say to those incredible women:

✨ You ARE worth it.
✨ You DO deserve to take up space.
✨ Your idea is not “too much” — it’s powerful.
✨ Your business matters because YOU matter.

Entrepreneurship is hard enough and women do it while juggling families, invisible labour, guilt, cycle phases, disrupted sleep, identity shifts, and hormone chaos.

And still… we rise!

To every woman building something while also rebuilding herself:
I see you.
I’m cheering for you.
And the world needs what you’re creating.

Thank you for having me back my heart is full. 🦆

And to anyone thinking about applying in the future… do it. Back yourself!
