Independent Funeral Home. We offer a very personal, family orientated service.

Valentines Family Funeral Home are an Award Winning, Independent, Family Owned and Run Funeral Directors run by the Valentine-Fuller Family. "We offer a modern service with traditional values, specialising in all types of Funerals. We are committed to providing a very unique and bespoke, ‘HAVE IT YOUR WAY’ service. We cater for all religions and cultures and we specialise in the little things that

are often overseen by other Funeral Directors. We are first and foremost a family caring for other families with the utmost DIGNITY, HONESTY and RESPECT, at the very heart of everything we do. After losing our own special loved ones, we have made it our vocation in life to help families with, what we know is the hardest and saddest time of their lives. We strive to respond to the wishes of every family, by arranging the most appropriate and fitting farewell relevant to families’ personal and financial circumstances. We treat families as if they were our own and we never want families to face distress and grief alone. We will be there every step of the way personally, not only as a local undertaker but as a family friend. From the very first phone call, right up to the day of the funeral, bereaved families will be supported by the same person throughout. We will do everything in our power to fulfil families’ wishes.

Orpington Has New Visitors… And One Is Called “Grief” 🐒💛

We’re proud to be sponsoring Grief — one of nine powerful chimpanzee bronze sculptures that have arrived in the heart of Orpington as part of a unique, year-long public art installation.

Created by internationally acclaimed artists Gillie and Marc, these lifelike chimps remind us that grief isn’t just a human emotion. Chimps grieve deeply when they lose a loved one — they mourn, comfort one another, and hold close the memory of those they’ve lost.

At Valentines Family Funeral Directors and The MumMum Foundation, we believe grief is love with nowhere to go. It’s something we all feel in different ways — and it connects us, across species, across communities, across time.

Come visit Grief and the other chimps in the Walnuts Centre Paved Area over the next 12 months — a safe, reflective space, free from vehicles and full of meaning.

We’re honoured to support this moving installation, and to help start gentle conversations around loss, love, and remembrance. 🕊️

Special thanks also to Tyler - Orpington 1st BID and the local business community.

Great to support our local MP during his appearance on BBC Politics London today.

So important to see regulation in the funeral industry being discussed — but even more powerful to hear open, honest conversations about death itself.

Let’s break the silence, challenge the stigma, and destroy the taboo around death together.

These conversations matter. 🕊️

As I bring my Presidency of the London Association of Funeral Directors to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and say thank you. It has been a true honour to serve as President of the oldest funeral association in the United Kingdom. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside dedicated professionals who care deeply about the families we serve and the future of our profession. This role has brought me immense pride, many lessons, and lifelong friendships. I’m incredibly grateful to the Executive Committee, our members, and everyone who supported me during this journey.Thank you for the trust, encouragement, and opportunity to represent you all. Here’s to the next chapter—continuing to support our industry, advocate for mental health through Grave Concern, and stand alongside families in their most difficult moments.

@🕯 Important Event – You’re Invited 🕯

On 19th June, I’ll be joining Michelle Harvey, Pauline Richardson and Jeremy West at Chelsfield Lakes Golf Centre (6pm) for an honest and much-needed discussion about Direct Cremation – what it really means, and what might be lost when we choose “no service, no fuss.”

As a funeral director who’s spent years supporting grieving families, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to honour lives properly. Direct cremation might seem simple and cost-effective, but it’s vital we also talk about the emotional, cultural, and social consequences.

Hosts: Michelle Harvy and Pauline Richardson

🎙 Speakers:
Jeremy West – West & Coe
Me – Gary Valentine, Valentines Family Funeral Directors

✅ Free entry
☕ Refreshments provided
👥 Open to all – funeral professionals, clergy, families, and anyone curious

This isn’t about sales or judgement – it’s about conversation, truth, and care.

Hope to see you there.

“Jessica and I would be pleased to say thank you to all concerned in the looking after our beloved ‘Alan’, from the gentleman who came to his bedside and collected him to the people who did the work downstairs as they say, they made the experience of coming to visit him appear as if he was only in hospital and I was paying a visit to him whilst he slept, thank you so much for that, also for allowing me to have him on a lowered hoist, as I never would have been able to reach his coffin and hold his hand. As for you Gary Valentine, well you run a very tight ship and I know I didn’t make your life easy either, I thank you and your wonderful team. If you sadly have to say goodbye, Valentines are the ones to use”
All our love
