Today is a very special day for me, both personally and professionally 💙

I am incredibly proud to officially announce that my beautiful wife and lifelong companion, Kirsty Valentine-Fuller, has been appointed as a Director of Valentines Family Funeral Directors.

Kirsty and I have been together since I was just 19 years old. From those early days with big dreams and very little certainty, she has stood beside me through it all — the challenges, the risks, the long days, the sleepless nights, and the moments where giving up might have seemed easier. She never wavered.

Behind everything we have built, Kirsty has been there — quietly strong, fiercely loyal, and deeply compassionate.

But more than that, she has given her heart to the families we serve. Supporting people through the darkest moments of their lives with kindness, dignity, and genuine care. Not for recognition, but because that’s simply who she is.

This appointment is not just deserved — it’s long overdue.

Under Kirsty’s leadership, I know we will continue to grow, continue to care, and continue to deliver the standard of service that defines us.
Our family caring for your family, every step of the way.

This Easter, we have been truly overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of our community 💛

A heartfelt thank you to every single person who has donated chocolate to support poorly children and families who are facing difficult times. Your compassion will bring smiles, comfort, and a little bit of joy where it’s needed most — and that means everything.

The response has been nothing short of incredible. It’s moments like this that remind us just how strong and caring our community really is.

A special shoutout to today’s “Egg Star” 🌟 – Jan from the wonderful Basil Coffee shop next door. Thank you, Jan, for your generosity and for always supporting us — we are so grateful to have such lovely neighbours.

Happy International Women’s Day 🌸

Today I want to pause and recognise the extraordinary women who stand at the heart of what we do at Valentines/GM Valentine.

Funeral service has traditionally been a male-led profession — but that story is changing. And here at Valentines/GM Valentine, it’s changing because of the strength, compassion, professionalism and quiet leadership of the women who walk beside me every day.

I want to pay special tribute to our outstanding female team — Kirsty, Charlotte, Stacey, Vicky and Emma.
Your empathy, resilience and dedication shape every family’s experience with us. You bring calm to chaos, dignity to grief, and humanity to some of life’s hardest moments.

A very special thank you to my wife and business partner, Kirsty. None of this would exist without you. Your wisdom, strength and unwavering belief in what we are building continue to inspire me daily.

At Valentines/GM Valentine, we are proud to be part of a shift in our profession — where leadership is defined not by gender, but by compassion, courage and care. These women embody everything that makes our funeral home special.

Love Never Leaves
From The Valentine Family

On Valentine’s Day when the red roses bloom,
We think of the love that outlives the tomb.
Not only the kisses, the cards and the cheer,
But the love that still lingers when someone’s not here.

We stand in the quiet where goodbyes are said,
With memories alive though a loved one has fled.
We’ve witnessed the tears on a well-worn sleeve,
And learned that true love does not simply leave.

It lives in the stories told late at night,
In laughter remembered, in candles alight.
It rests in the echo of songs once sung,
In hands once held, in words once flung.

For grief is the price of a love so deep,
A promise the heart will forever keep.
Though time may soften the sharpest pain,
Love finds a way to remain.

We’ve seen a husband straighten her hair,
A daughter stand brave in whispered prayer.
A family gather, hearts entwined,
Bound by a love no loss can unwind.

So today as you cherish the ones you hold,
And honour the stories already told,
Remember this truth, both tender and wise —
Love never fades, it only flies.

A Moment of Reflection in Tunbridge Wells - ‘Silent Lights’

Recently, we had the honour of bringing our community together for a quiet evening of remembrance at St James’, Tunbridge Wells.

Inspired by Candles on the Cobb, this was not an event about speeches or ceremony, but a simple moment to pause, reflect, and remember those we love and miss — together, as a community.

Families, children, friends and neighbours stood side by side, each candle representing a life remembered, a story held, and love that never fades.

As a new funeral home in Tunbridge Wells, moments like this matter deeply to us. Before we are ever needed professionally, we want to be present — listening, supporting, and holding space for remembrance.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening so special.

Memorial Evening – ‘Silent Lights’

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Silent Lights Memorial Evening. This year, we were proud to recreate Candles on the Cobb with over a thousand candles, bringing a truly moving glow of remembrance and unity to our community.

A special and heartfelt thank you to:

🕯 The incredible St James Primary School children who sang so beautifully – your voices brought comfort, hope, and light to so many mums and dads. Special thanks also to the fantastic teachers!
🕯 The wonderful team at St James Church – your support and warmth helped make the evening so meaningful.
🕯 The lovely Revd Judi Hammill – for your compassion, presence, and guiding words throughout the service.
🕯 The one and only Millie Bowell (BBC The Voice) – your voice added something magical and unforgettable.
🕯 Chris, who worked tirelessly to make the candles and create such an extraordinary setting – thank you for your dedication.

We are proud to share that our chosen charity, The Pickering Centre, has now raised over £1,100 thanks to your incredible generosity.
