A wonderful nutritionist, mentor, trainer, coach and good friend of mine (thank you Louise Riley) was sharing last week how she coaches people to be "-er" - what does that mean???

Well instead of saying I want to be slim, fit, healthy, calm, clear, happy, strong etc, she suggested just adding "-er" to the word, so that day-by-day you're gently taking the steps and doing the activities that will move you in the right direction:-

SLIMMER
FITTER
HEALTHIER
CALMER
CLEARER
HAPPIER
STRONGER

It works doesn't it (well, not to words like confident-er, successful-er, or abundant-er 🤣 but you get my drift - change that one to "more confident, more successful, more abundant"!).

It empowers you to make micro daily changes towards your goal, rather than feeling bad about it when you haven't achieved it overnight!

Remember it takes 21 days on average to form a new habit anyway, so keep going with those tweaks/nudges in the right direction and celebrate the little wins and they'll soon turn into reality.

What one thing can you do today to be healthier or slimmer - maybe reduce 1 biscuit/chocolate/coffee/glass of alcohol.

Or how can you be calmer or think more clearly today - box breathing maybe - just once, then next day do it twice, and next day 3 times etc

Stronger or fitter - maybe do 10 reps of an exercise, like squats, or sit-ups, or go for a 10 minute walk, increasing to 11 mins the next day, and then 12 and so on.

I’m so excited to be the main speaker at our next lovely Wellness Evening on Wednesday 23rd July at Fernwood Village Hall 🌿

As a Clinical Hypnotherapist for the past seven years, I’ve worked with so many people struggling with anxiety and stress – and that’s exactly what I’ll be diving into on the night.

We’ll explore how the subconscious mind, our thoughts and emotions, and even our hormones (hello, Cortisol 👋) all play a part in how we feel – and more importantly, how we can feel better.

I’ll be keeping things super simple and down-to-earth – no jargon, no complicated science – just easy-to-understand explanations, relatable examples, and plenty of practical tips you can start using straight away to feel calmer and more in control.

We’ll also be joined by the amazing Louise Riley, who’ll be sharing her fab insights into nutrition for a healthy mind and body – she really knows her stuff!

Your health depends more on your choices than your age...
It’s easy to blame age for poor health — “I’m getting older,” we say when we feel tired, gain weight, or face health issues. But the truth is, age is just a number. What truly shapes your health is the choices you make every day.

✅ Nutrition: Eating whole, balanced meals filled with fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and lean proteins can do more for your body than any anti-aging pill. A young person eating junk food daily may be at more risk than a senior who eats clean.

✅ Physical Activity: Staying active doesn’t mean extreme workouts. Even daily walks, yoga, or dancing can boost heart health, improve mood, and keep joints flexible — regardless of age.

✅ Mindset & Stress: Chronic stress and negative thinking age you faster than time ever could. Choose peace, mindfulness, and positivity. Meditate, breathe, rest. Your mind is the command center of your body.

✅ Habits & Lifestyle: Smoking, excessive alcohol, sleep deprivation, and sedentary lifestyles can harm anyone, no matter how young they are. On the flip side, healthy routines have helped 80-year-olds live like they’re 50!

✅ Preventive Care: Choosing to go for regular check-ups, listening to your body, and being proactive about your health makes a huge difference — again, that’s your choice, not your age.

💡 Every healthy choice you make is a deposit into your future well-being.

So instead of counting years, start counting steps, healthy meals, restful nights, and moments of joy. Because your health is not written in your birth certificate — it's built in your daily decisions.
