Back to school soon... and feeling the pressure? 🎒💭
The return to school can stir up a mixture of emotions can't it - not just for the children, but also parents - and school staff too. Excitement, anxiety, overwhelm … it’s all completely normal after the holidays.
Here are a few gentle reminders to help you ease into September:
🌿 Give it time – routines take a while to settle. Be patient with yourself and others.
🗣️ Talk it out – let children (and adults) express how they feel without judgement.
🧘♀️ Breathe and reset – build in quiet moments, even if it’s just 5 minutes a day.
📝 Plan simply – prioritise what really matters this week. The rest can wait.
Whether you're packing lunches, planning lessons, or finding your way in a new class - you're doing better than you think. Please be kind to yourself. 💛

Really interesting article I’ve just read, so I wanted to share it. If you’re needing help resolving anger, please get in touch. Hypnotherapy works really well for anger-issues. Www.starfishhypnotherapy.co.uk
Anger and Your Health
“Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.”
Negative emotions like anger elevate cortisol, which suppresses immune cell activity (e.g., T-cells, natural killer cells) and increases pro-inflammatory cytokines.
Chronic anger is linked to conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and insulin resistance.
Chronic anger and negative emotions disrupt neurotransmitter balance (e.g., serotonin, dopamine), contributing to mood disorders.
Effects: Increased risk of anxiety, depression, and insomnia.
Anger impairs decision-making and memory by overactivating the amygdala and reducing prefrontal cortex activity.
Anger activates the sympathetic nervous system, diverting energy from digestion and increasing stress-related hormones that affect metabolism.
Chronic anger is linked to conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and insulin resistance. A 2016 study in Psych neuroendocrinology found that negative emotional states contribute to metabolic syndrome risk factors.
Sustained anger causes muscle tension and increases pain perception by altering pain signaling pathways.
Effects: Associated with chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia and tension headaches (Pain Medicine, 2012). Suppressed anger, in particular, is linked to heightened pain sensitivity.
Work to resolve ongoing anger and if you want revenge on those that don’t wish you well, forgive them and move on! Take away their power to affect your mental and physical well being.
You don’t always notice yourself healing. There isn’t always a grand moment of realization or a sudden shift where the pain is gone. Healing doesn’t shout. It whispers.
One day, you’ll come across a memory that once shattered you—
and instead of tears, you’ll feel a quiet acceptance.
The words that once stung will no longer have power over you.
The places or people that once triggered you will no longer control your peace.
✨ That’s healing. Not overnight. Not perfect. But steady. Quiet. Real.
💭 For example: Imagine someone who went through a painful breakup. In the beginning, every song, every place, every reminder would reopen the wound. Nights felt endless, and mornings felt heavy. But time, reflection, self-love, and acceptance slowly worked their magic.
Then one day, they walked past the same café where they once sat together, and instead of drowning in sadness, they simply smiled at the memory. It no longer had the power to break them. That is healing.
🌸 You might not see it happening day by day. It doesn’t announce itself. But trust that every deep breath, every small act of self-care, every release of bitterness, and every choice to keep moving forward is stitching your heart back together.
Healing is happening—even if you can’t see it. Be patient with yourself. You are becoming whole.

Procrastination isn't laziness - it's quite often a sign of overwhelm, perfectionism, or a fear of failure, generally associated with anxiety. And I've been there too!
If you're stuck in a cycle of "I'll do it later," try these quick tips:
✅ Break it down – Small steps feel less overwhelming than one big task.
✅ Set a timer – Try 10 focused minutes. Starting is often the hardest part.
✅ Ditch perfection – Progress or done is better than perfect.
✅ Reward progress – Celebrate every win, no matter how small!
You’ve got this - one step at a time. 💪

On SUNDAY 7th SEPTEMBER 2025 at 3pm, the government will send a loud emergency alert to every mobile phone in the UK. It’s a test designed to warn people of danger but for women experiencing domestic abuse, it could do the opposite.
Many women living with an abuser keep a hidden second phone – a lifeline to safety, support and escape.
If that phone makes a sound, it could be discovered. And the consequences could be devastating.
That’s why we urgently need your help.
Please watch and share this short video, showing how to turn off alerts on a hidden phone. It takes just a minute - but it could save someone’s life.

Passionate about helping people be the best they can be
After a 23-year career at the BBC, I found myself facing redundancy in 2005, and I had no idea what to do. I came across a company that helps people with their health and wellbeing and started my own business under their umbrella. I went on to grow a wonderful business and I still run this today and absolutely love it. Due to personal reasons, we found ourselves relocating from Sussex to the Nottingham/Lincoln borders, near Grantham, to be nearer to family. This coincided with our son leaving for university. So I found myself to be an empty nester! I got involved in charity work with the Soroptimists, to meet more people and give back, which I love, and through my health & wellbeing business I also love helping people to grow and develop. I’ve done a lot of self-development myself over the years too, and am passionate about mindset, having done lots of trainings, and read lots of books, and received hypnotherapy personally and found it to be absolutely fantastic.
So, when a course came up to learn how to actually become a hypnotherapist, it sang to me - it sits with my core values of helping people become the best they can be, with integrity, empathy and dignity. My business is called Starfish Hypnotherapy (check out the fabulous Starfish fable - you can’t help everyone, but you can help the ones you can). I trained and qualified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist with the largest training school in the UK - Innervisions. I am really enjoying the journey, and love helping people change their mindset and get rid of unwanted feelings, habits and behaviours to become the best they can be and move forward positively in life.
Please give me a call to chat through any unwanted thoughts, feelings, behaviours, habits or patterns that you would like to change (the list is endless), and let’s see if hypnotherapy is the vehicle for you. I offer free initial consultations so that we can explore where you are now, and where you’d like to be, and then we can discuss the journey thereafter and how hypnotherapy can help you. I currently practice from my home in Orston, near Bingham, and am also working alongside Sanamente Hypnotherapy in Leicester 2 days a week. I’m able to work face to face, or online using zoom or Skype.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you become the best YOU.
