When talking isn't enough, let the body speak. 💆✨
Completing the "Stress Response Cycle"
When we feel like the **Fox** (fearless but high-adrenaline) or the **Ivy** (struggling and holding on tight), our bodies produce cortisol and adrenaline. If we don't "use" that energy, it gets locked in our muscles as tension.
Massage manually moves the body out of "Fight or Flight" and into the **Parasympathetic Nervous System** (Rest and Digest). It tells the brain, "The danger has passed; you can let go now."
We often subconsciously "armor" ourselves by hunching our shoulders (protecting the heart) or clenching our jaws.
By releasing these physical knots, massage can sometimes trigger an emotional release. It’s not uncommon for people to feel a sense of relief or even tearfulness during a massage—it’s just the "Blue" finally leaving the body
Did you know that your muscles can hold onto memories of stress long after your mind has tried to move on? That 'tightness' in your shoulders or that 'weight' in your chest is often just your body’s way of trying to protect you.
Massage helps by:
✅ **Lowering Cortisol:** Reducing the physical 'noise' of stress.
✅ **Boosting Oxytocin:** The 'connection' hormone that helps us feel safe.
✅ **Improving Sleep:** Helping find a quiet night without the nightmares.
Whether you are walking the trails with me or sitting in the quiet of my Barnsley room, remember that your body deserves as much compassion as your mind. Sometimes, the best way to heal the soul is to start with the skin
