Phil has been suffering with some shoulder pain recently, particularly when in the front rack position.

This could only mean one thing, a session with David Jakeman]] was needed
-
With David's help they discovered that Phil had a lack of ROM on the painful side which was due to Lat tightness
-
They also found he was relatively weak on his internal rotation
-
With the new exercises incorporated into Phil's training he's now able to Bench and maintain the front rack position pain free

Posted • David Jakeman]] A quick look at some shoulder rehab exercises given to reduce shoulder pain experienced in loaded front rack position and with resisted internal rotation. Main findings were a weakness with shoulder internal rotation and some lat tightness. Exercises looked to address restriction in movement and pain inhibition pre session to allow to continue training. We included some accessory exercises to then condition some specific weakness at the shoulder. So far, everything heading in the right direction 💪💪💪

Staying still to move forward...

Isometric work can be a valuable tool in a rehab program. In the example above (ankle sprain) we have paired some light/mod squats with some isometric heel raises. We were able to reduce discomfort, increase loading tolerance and Improve deep squat mechanics. From this we moved into some stability work which we plan on progressing over the next few weeks.

Finding what works for your rehab allows a more efficient transition from rehab to full training, progressing alongside tissue healing while improving confidence in the injured site.

Posted • .strength Deadlift Workshop at with me is back on! Great chance to get your deadlift sorted by someone with a severe deadlift obsession!

Saturday the 1st of May and Saturday 5th of June.

Smaller groups this time and will take place in the gym after closing hours.

Anyone interested in getting deadlifts on the right track form wise especially after lockdown or help making progress on it if feeling stuck with the same weights this is Ideal!

Will be roughly 2 hours long and go over deadlifts from warm ups, to the best technique for you, ways to fix your weakpoints and programming tips! Advice will be based on what will work for you!

Putting down early objective markers during rehab allows us to monitor how an individual is responding to intervention and offers clear goals of where we need to Improve for both short and long term.

In this instance we were looking to improve general function of lower limb and also reduce the asymmetry between affected and non affected limb.

With video analysis we can also see better movement and stability alongside the improved numbers.
