The Boy is 12 today 🎂💙 He WhatsApp’d me this morning to say he was off to the beach for the day 😆

When he was around 18 months/2 yo I was watching him play & suddenly realised that I absolutely…desperately…wanted to be around as long as possible

To watch him grow up into the beautiful young man I could already see he was going to be

I also knew that wasn’t going to happen if I didn’t make some changes to my lifestyle at that time

I didn’t exercise

I either didn’t eat enough or when I did it was cr

Too much 🍷

Too little sleep 💤

My mental health was shot 🫠

I told myself a story that I was far too busy with work that I couldn’t possibly dedicate any time to my own health 😢

I wasn’t one of my own top priorities

Little did I know then that peri-menopause was giving me a proper beating

Ya know, it’s not selfish to prioritise your own health & wellness in & amongst everything else you do for others

It’s not selfish to be in the best shape you can be - physically & mentally

Your family & friends will be your biggest cheerleaders I promise 🥳

Because, guess what, they also want you around for as long as you possibly can be 💕

Sharing with my incredible client’s permission 🙌🏽 because she loves the thought that it could help others with their Emotional Eating and Binge Eating Disorder too 🥰

Unless you’ve been under a rock this weekend, you’ve seen this ALL over your feeds 🫣

Of course, some of the memes have been hilarious 😆

Of course, these 2 spouse cheaters deserve ALL the shame

And of course, the repercussions on their families is heartbreaking 💔

I’m also thinking of their colleagues and staff. Because I was in the position in an organisation, unknowingly being broken by peri-menopause, and had no-one there to talk to and ask for help 🙏

Why? Because the male Boss and female HR Manager were very obviously ’close’ 🤗

I left that job. I had nothing like it to replace it with but even the company car, secure salary, commission and paid holiday couldn’t keep me in that environment ⛔️

I wonder how many other mid-life women feel or have felt this way too? More than we think, I bet!

Love Love Love watching new friendships grow through exercise 💞

Week 7/16 of coaching running beginners & returners with Walking & Running Fit SESKU & Hemsworth - only 2 of these awesomes knew each other Week 1

Now, they’re all running buddies and the group chat is 🐝 🐝 all supporting and congratulating each other and arranging to meet up in between 💞

When fitness becomes more than just the class you go to each week…that’s where the hook 🪝 lies and the magic truly happens 💥

Give something 7 weeks, it’s no time really, but could make all the difference ✨

Day 1/2 of the PERIMENO Conference and I am SO happy!

That I’ve not been chatting 💩 to you all 😅

The proven key points from the Academics, Researchers, Doctors and Professors speaking today were these 🥁 🥁 🥁

🥩 🍗 🥦 🍊 We need to be eating nutrient dense foods. 80% of the time at least.

We don’t want to be restricting until we’re uncomfortably hungry, then bingeing crap or ‘treating’ ourselves to sugary snacks & drinks. They’re not treats for our bodies, they’re just sugar that likes to hang round our waists 😖

Food is vital nourishment for our bodies to work efficiently - as is sleep (sleep has been a personal mission this year & I’ve definitely benefitted)

💪🏽🏋🏽‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️🚶🏽‍♀️🧘‍♀️ Exercise 😃

✅ Resistance/Weight Training - maintaining full body lean muscle mass, brain cognition, physical independence, living well longer

✅ Running/ Walking Briskly - maintaining bone density, maintaining some lower body lean muscle, 💗 heart health, Vit D (outdoor running in daylight)

✅ Flexibility/Mobility Training - can be fantastic for core strength & stability and definitely a great part of a self-care regime. No evidence of physical benefit to muscle or bone health (don’t come at me my Yogi & Pilates friends, I’m just reporting back)

✅ Walking Leisurely - fantastic for wellbeing, social connection, Vit D, some heart health. No evidence to show benefit to muscle or bone health but a perfect entry level to becoming a little fitter than before👌

So…heard any of that before? 🙋🏼‍♀️

It was a day, and I was grateful for a run afterwards with our Walking & Running Fit Five Towns group!

I’m looking forward to tomorrow (thank you so much for all your messages ♥️) when I get to speak about what’s going on in real life, with real women in real communities
