Mum, are you free Saturday 6th to come on Nina’s birthday outing?

I have my classes Saturday sweetheart and I just had my birthday off so…no, wait, I’ll ask if Dale can cover💡

During my 20+ year career in sales, taking time off wasn’t popular. Burn out? Deal with it.

And some of that culture is very much still ingrained. However, what I have learned in the 5+ years since is this;

🎤 Time out is essential
🎤 Help is there - if you ask
🎤 There is always a solution
🎤 Family is why we work hard - but what’s the point in that if we miss special times
🎤 Taking care of yourself means more time enjoying them 💞

Would I do a crazy cart twisty descent at speed through a forest again? Maybe not 🤣

Was it kinda cool showing the kids one of my past play area jobs? Of course 😊

Was spending time with them where I needed to be today? Absolutely 🥰

If you know me, you know that I will champion you for starting, re-starting, trying hard & keeping going above all else 🙌🏽💞👏🏼

Over the last couple of years I somehow lost myself in the exact same way all of you can and do.

Building a business around supporting others - especially women - on their wellbeing journeys is my passion and joy, however I also allowed it to become my excuse for not working on myself. Which is how this all started 😅

I knew that had to change for me. Professionally. Personally. Mentally.

And for my health, happiness and ever expanding post-meno waistline!

So I got to work. And I’m by no means done yet. But I’ve got ‘my mojo’ back and that is key!

Walking into a gym on my own. Terrifying! Even ‘though I know what I’m doing I find classes easier - but when none fit my schedule, here we are 🏋🏼

I turned 56 two weeks ago. 10 months ago I was 4kg heavier, a dress size up and had a fitness age of 49 (according to my health app)

I upped my weight training 💪🏽🍑🦵

I made really conscious decisions around food - especially cutting down on the Ultra Processed 💩

Which also gave me more freedom for Summertime treats 🍦 with family 💗

This also improved my gut health - if your tummy constantly feels bloated & sore…it’s not you, it’s the crap in the snacks 😉 I’ve cut out ready made protein shakes completely and CAN NOT tell you enough about the de-bloat!

I focused on my sleep

I *mainly* drank enough water

Today my fitness app gives my age at 39.

If you could gain 10 years of healthy life expectancy* for 10 months of work - would you do it?

I do sooo enjoy a young male trainer mansplaining how to mitigate menopausal weight gain 🙄 don’t you?

I watched this 💩 so you don’t have to, you’re welcome 🦸🤣

He basically said drink more water ✅ reduce carbs 🤔 depends how active you are & what carbs you’re consuming honestly, and do strength & resistance training ✅ well he would say that wouldn’t he, but he is correct ✅

But there’s so much more he didn’t include because a) he hasn’t done his research and b) how would he know? He’ll never know the ripple effects of weight gain from nowhere will he? He can’t, menopause will never happen to him.

I’m not saying there’s no good male meno support coaches - I happen to know a very good one right here in Ossett 👍

But if you want lived experienced, accredited and practical help 🙋🏼‍♀️ get yourself along to my and/or classes on Saturday mornings 💥

GLP-1s for weight loss and, full disclosure, I am not jumping on a bandwagon for likes or engagement here

I’ve been in the West Yorkshire ICB Excess Weight & Obesity Strategy Working Group for over 2 years, so I know the background of it all and I knew about Wegovy & Mounjaro hitting the UK before a lot of GPs did (actually true 😳)

I’ve watched a lot of MJ user’s personal wellbeing journeys, challenges and successes…including for their physical, mental and social health.

As always, with over 1.5 million people in the UK alone, now buying MJ privately and jabbing weekly, there’s going to be a mixed bag of good & bad

I’m often asked for my advice & opinions, especially since I started doing my Emotional & Binge Eating Disorder Specialist Training

And it’s always the same (but ultimately your business alone). If you’ve tried absolutely everything else (and most absolutely have)

And you’re going to combine it with better informed food choices (because if you’re eating less, it needs to be what your body needs it to be to be healthy, not just thinner - there’s a difference)

And you’re going to train so that you build lean muscle mass whilst losing fat (which improves your metabolism) and walk more for heart health 💗

And you have no underlying health issues that it might worsen

And you can afford it now that the prices for the highest doses are about to be almost double at £300 per month…

Then go for it! 💥 If it’s going to be the kickstart to the change that you want for living a longer and more importantly, healthier life with your loved ones 💗

This is not in any way an endorsement and you will still have work to do if you want MJ to be an aid, rather than a lifelong commitment or a quick fix for that event you want to look thinner at.

It’s a drug at the end of the day so please do your due diligence and take care out there 😘😘😘

💥 Absolutely fabulous energy & atmosphere in both classes this morning 💥 I may only have had one weekend off but it felt fantastic to be back with you all!

Awesome to welcome a couple of lovely familiar faces back - life lifes for us women right - and to welcome Nat who joined us for the first time too 🤗 Nat’s mainly done cardio workouts & walking in the past, but has done her research to understand the essential benefits of strength & resistance training 🏋🏽‍♀️

Which has 💯% been created for 🎯

Small Group Training - how does that go so fast?! Brilliant efforts all round, with every woman working towards their personal goals, be they strength, conditioning, toning, weight loss or general health and fitness. Or all of the above! 💗

And when they bring a belated birthday giant vanilla slice from Blacker Hall Farm Shop it’s even better 😋😍🤣

What you think other people are thinking about you…is a) out of your control b) their problem and c) none of your business

Most importantly d) they’re very probably not because they’re worrying about what you’re thinking of them. So how much of a waste of your mental energy is all that?! 🤯

So please 🙏 move your body in whatever way makes you feel happy, have fun with it & don’t give a 💩 about what you think, others are thinking about you

In reality, start doing that 👆and you’ll meet your people anyway 💞

Yesterday afternoon I spent a fab couple of hours with my youngest in her local gym 💞

It was Leg Day and I’m feeling it already 😩😍hope you’re all happy 👍🤣

I’d already had a lovely start to the day with Running Fit Ossett & Horbury Superstars Meet followed by a productive session with my also Superstar Client 🫶🏼

When we got to the Gym reception, my Daughter proudly 💗 asked the lady on reception if she could pay for a day pass “for my Mum”

The lady: (my age-ish) “Aww, has she dragged you along love?”

Me: 🙂 I’m ok with it thank you 😂

A conversation with one of my Small Group ladies 💗 yesterday reminded me of when I first started taking my health & fitness really seriously and after a few months, I got an excruciating pain in my right shoulder - I put it down to my then nemesis, the Battle Ropes 🤬🤣

That was 9 years ago and now that I know much more about it all, it turns out that I wasn’t over-training, I was in my peri-meno era 💁🏼‍♀️ but it can still flare up now if I’m not careful with it

The good news is 😃 you can - and should - still train 🏋🏽‍♀️ and we can modify your workout to strengthen, not aggravate it 💪🏽

The other good-ish news 😃😃 is that, you’re not falling apart 😅 And it’s not just you, it’s our hormones leaving our bodies like they’re Olympic athletes all of a sodding sudden!🏃🏾‍♀️‍➡️

There’s so many different symptoms that can be experienced - to lesser or greater degrees- some of which may surprise but also reassure you 🫶🏼
