We're delighted to launch a brand new programme - specifically for Kirklees Women not currently in employment!

Any woman aged 18-64 is very welcome to attend however, the sessions will be most beneficial to those aged 35+ who feel that their symptoms and the effects of peri and post-menopause are a barrier to gaining or returning to work

There will be a focus topic of conversation each week - ranging from physical and emotional changes through to treatments and remedies to lifestyle suggestions and advice and of course, the upcoming enhancements to the Employment Rights Act and NHS Health Checks

With Compassion & Confidentiality throughout, this programme will be delivered by our MenoHealth qualified and lived-experienced Paula Appleton - The Woman's Coach and is completely free to join!

Itโ€™s nearly here! ๐Ÿ’ž January seems to have flown this year, yet here we are, still on the eleventy billionth day of it ๐Ÿคฃ

I never do the New Year New Me stuff cos I think itโ€™s just too big an ask to start something new, something big and/or something you โ€˜mayโ€™ have been putting off for a whileโ€ฆwhen itโ€™s cold, dark and miserable. Itโ€™s just not the environment is it, itโ€™s not the one.

February โ€˜tho, things start to lighten up a little ๐ŸŒบ and our thoughts can look forward to Spring, Summer and lovely Autumnal days ๐Ÿคฉ

Itโ€™s also the month we celebrate luuuurve โ™ฅ๏ธ That doesnโ€™t have to mean expensive gifts, outings and extravagant displays of affectionโ€ฆit can mean we start to care for our own selves that little bit more ๐Ÿฅฐ

Many thanks to Caroline at Carers Wakefield & District for inviting me to speak with female carers about the physical and emotional affects of Menopause this morning

One of the things I hear so often in these discussions is the fear that the common symptom of Brain Fog could be early onset Alzheimerโ€™s ๐Ÿง  and today was no exception

When weโ€™re leading busy and complex lives - especially when caring for others too - our own health is often not prioritised. Which is why itโ€™s so important to have these informal conversations in community settings. Safe spaces, within peer groups and time to be really listened to ๐Ÿค—

As Dr Christelle Langley said in this research also published today โ€œWe all need to be more sensitive to not only the physical, but also the mental health of women during menopause, however, and recognise when they are struggling. There should be no embarrassment in letting others know what youโ€™re going through and asking for help.โ€

I was listening to a really interesting discussion on R2 earlier about - the very common and real - grief that women can experience as they age.

Losing their youthful faces, hair colour, waistlines and desirability ๐Ÿ’”

And yeah, I get it. I honestly do. But babes, we canโ€™t go back (and I frankly wouldnโ€™t want to) However we CAN move forward in our New Powers ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ

10 years ago, I had less wrinkles for sure ๐Ÿ˜…

But my smile was for show
My hair was bleached like it was still the 80โ€™s
My brain didnโ€™t know what was happening to my Peri Meno body (which I was treating like ๐Ÿ’ฉ)
And I felt trapped, lost & hopeless in my own life

9 years ago I started taking my own health, fitness & wellbeing a lot more seriously โ™ฅ๏ธ

8 years ago I started helping others to do the same ๐Ÿ’ž

7-3 years ago, A LOT happened for the better

2 years ago, a woman bought me a F*ck It journal after meeting me once at Menopause & Me ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Last year I graduated my Emotional & Binge Eating Disorder Specialist training, my eldest Daughter got promoted, my youngest Daughter graduated her 2nd degree & was proud to invite me and my youngest Granddaughter took me on a Dinosaur Hunt in the Woods ๐Ÿ’—

And through all of this; My smile has gradually gotten genuinely wider ๐Ÿ˜ If that causes more wrinkles, Iโ€™ll bloody well take it!

And if that makes me less desirable to 57yo men, Iโ€™ll take that too ๐Ÿคฃ

Hitting mid-later life doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™re over and out. Imagine; it could - and can - be the start of You Becoming and Loving Being Your Real Authentic You ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Please donโ€™t give up on you, youโ€™ve got this and youโ€™re more important and powerful than ever!

Some of you may remember my mini-rant about the Panorama Menopause episode last year. Advertised as an expose of unnecessary, expensive products only to turn into an attack on an absolute Pioneer - Dr Louise Newson

Sheโ€™s spoken about it today on her platforms, absolutely devastating but of course, sheโ€™s fought back ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ

10K Steps A Day? Some days thatโ€™s not remotely possible right?

And they work! Theyโ€™re great, I love mine - it helps to keep me accountable - but Iโ€™m not a slave to it

On Sunday I did less than 4000 steps. On Monday I did over 26000 steps

Itโ€™s always all about your average, small steps, over time

If 3000 steps is your average, thatโ€™s an absolutely perfect place to start from! Try for an average of 3100 next week ๐Ÿ‘ And so on

If your goal is fat loss, thatโ€™s cool, steps can definitely help alongside nutrition and a really wholesome way to think about moving more, is to focus on how great it feels afterwards ๐Ÿ˜

Thatโ€™s the ๐Ÿ’ฅ that keeps us motivated, intentional and consistent ๐ŸŒŸ

And, even better, you can get your steps in for completely free ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Thereโ€™s literally nothing not to love, trust me, tracking my daily steps at age 46 is exactly how I started. You can too ๐Ÿ˜˜
