Oswestry St John Ambulance

St John Ambulance is the nation's leading first aid charity. We've been in Oswestry over 120 years! We have an Adult group 18+ that meet on Tuesdays at 8.

We are an organisation made up of volunteers from the local community. We have a Cadet group, teaching first aid to 10 - 18 year olds. We have a Community First Response scheme. We provide first aid cover at local events.

Since Thursday,
Our Members have been out covering the International Sheep Dog Trials at the beautiful Brynkinalt Estate in Chirk.
A big thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their time to give back to their community.

Yesterday, James and Tobias went over to Staffordshire to support our wider district colleagues at Eccleshall Show. They had a fantastic day despite the rain.
Events like this are a brilliant way for cadets like Tobias to practice their skills and further their clinical knowledge to help them in the future.

Another busy week for our Network team.

Yesterday saw a number of members attending the VJ day service within the town providing both First aid cover and representing the network & the wider St John Ambulance charity.

Today Dave, James and Tobias were out at the 48th anniversary of Rhydycroesau Show, Horse Show and Fell Run. A big well done to all the competitors in the horse Show and also the winners in the dog show.

This evening,
James, Tobias, Georgia and Karen were at Chirk Castle to support Oswestry Olympians Athletic and Triathlon Club with the Chirk Castle Relay.
It was a brilliant evening and thankfully the weather held off.

Today,
Tobias, Rob, Dave and James were on duty supporting the Oswald Trail Sponsored Walk in partnership with Rotary Club of Oswestry and Cambrian rotary.
A really nice day and thankfully the weather held out. Well done to all the walkers as well for completing the route.

This week
Rob and James have been attending the LIV Golf championship held at JCB Golf and Country Club in Rocester.
We were providing both clinical cover as well as James supporting our leadership team as an Operational Commander and some of our volunteers supporting with Radio Comms.

It has been a very busy weekend for our network volunteers.
Members right across the network joined by Shrewsbury St John Ambulance members were providing medical cover for Oswestry Food & Drink Festival on both Saturday and Sunday.
Kim and Tom have been providing ambulance and radio comms cover at Godiva Festival on Friday and Saturday alongside wider west midlands colleagues.
Then to finish the weekend, Dave and Brad were at Ellesmere Regatta yesterday providing first aid cover where they nearly got ambushed by pirates.
We thank all our volunteers. They are proof that not all heroes wear capes - some wear green.

This weekend we will have our team out at the Oswestry Food & Drink Festival to provide first aid cover. We will also be demonstrating first aid skills and operating a recruitment stand.

Last night Oswestry Network covered emergency childbirth. Although a rare occurrence, these skills can be vitally important for our volunteers to know.
