THE SCIENCE OF MASSAGE

Massage is an ancient healing practice that dates back thousands of years. Today, it is considered a complementary therapy for a wide range of health conditions and is often used in conjunction with other treatments.

The science behind massage suggests that it can help to reduce stress, decrease pain and inflammation, improve circulation, and promote relaxation.

When a massage therapist applies pressure to the muscles and soft tissues of the body, it triggers a relaxation response in the nervous system.

This response can lead to a reduction in stress hormones and an increase in feel-good hormones like serotonin and dopamine.

Additionally, massage can help to increase blood flow to the muscles and other tissues, which can help to reduce pain and inflammation.

Research has also shown that massage can be beneficial for people with chronic conditions like fibromyalgia, arthritis, and chronic back pain.

It may also help to improve sleep, boost immune function, and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Overall, the science of massage suggests that it can be a valuable tool for promoting health and wellness.

MUSCLE GROWTH!

Massage therapy has been shown to have several benefits for muscle repair and growth.

One of the primary benefits of massage is increased blood flow to the muscles, which can help to deliver nutrients and oxygen while removing waste products.

This increased blood flow can also help to reduce inflammation and promote healing.

In addition to improving blood flow, massage can also help to relieve muscle tension and tightness, which can improve range of motion and flexibility.

Massage can also stimulate the production of hormones that promote muscle growth and repair, such as growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1.

Finally, massage can help to reduce stress and anxiety, which can have a negative impact on muscle recovery and growth.

Incorporating massage therapy into a muscle recovery and growth program can be highly beneficial!!

We use breath-work to help us to better regulate our emotions by engaging the autonomic nervous system (ANS) The ANS is responsible for controlling involuntary bodily functions such as blood pressure, heart rate, digestion, and other automatic responses.

By manipulating breathing patterns and techniques, we can access the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), which regulates rest and relaxation, and the sympathetic nervous system (SNS), which is responsible for the body's fight-or-flight response.

Research has shown that breathwork can help to balance the activity between the two systems, allowing the body to achieve a more relaxed state. With regular practice, we can learn to control our breathing to activate the PNS and calm the SNS, leading to lower stress levels, better regulation of emotions and improved overall wellbeing.
