The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RJAH) is a leading orthopaedic centre of excellence. A specialist hospital with a reputation for innovation, the Trust provides a comprehensive range of musculoskeletal (bone, joint and tissue) surgical, medical and rehabilitation services; locally, regionally and nationally. As such, the Trust serves the people of both England and Wales, as well as acting as a national healthcare provider. It also hosts some local services which support the communities in and around Oswestry. The hospital has nine inpatient wards including a private patient ward, ten operating theatres, as well as extensive outpatient and diagnostic facilities. Outreach clinics are held in neighbouring healthcare facilities to ensure that specialist services are provided as close to people’s homes as possible.

From tomorrow (Monday 17 November), a section of Patient Car Park A will be temporarily closed for a week to allow for the installation of new solar car park canopies.

During this time, Staff Car Park One will be open for patients and visitors to use as overflow parking.

From 7am tomorrow (Friday 14 November) until 7am on Wednesday (19 November), some of our Resident Doctors will be on strike as part of industrial action by the British Medical Association (BMA).

If you have an appointment at our hospital during this period and have not heard from us then your appointment is still going ahead as scheduled. Please attend as planned.

Huge congratulations to RJAH Chef Gill Owen, who cooked at the House of Commons as part of the NHS Chef of the Year 5th anniversary celebrations!

Her warm pineapple upside down cake with poached pear and spiced raspberry coconut sorbet was chosen as part of the celebratory lunch menu, which featured some of the very best dishes from NHS chefs across the country 🍰👏

This week is Occupational Therapy Week - and our OTs have been in the Main Entrance, raising awareness about the profession!

This year's OT Week theme, set by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, is Right Support, Right Time: Unlocking the Power of OT and aims to put occupational therapy at the centre of a shift towards prevention-focused care, helping people earlier, easing pressure across services and improving outcomes 👏

Tamika was recognised for her passion for improvement and innovation, particularly through her work on the Improvement Champions Programme – where she developed a project to enhance patient education for spinal injury patients.

Today is Pharmacy Technician Day, and we are celebrating our fantastic Pharmacy Technician Team 💊💉

The RJAH Pharmacy Team provide patient care and various services, and the Pharmacy Technicians work will skill, dedication and compassion to make sure medicines are managed safely. Alongside Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, the team also includes support staff who are a vital part of the service.

As part of celebrations, the team are enjoying delicious cookies and novelty pens thanks to the RJAH Charity 👏

We’re thrilled that our Path of Positivity has been featured in Women & Home magazine!

This unique outdoor walkway was created during the pandemic to support the wellbeing of patients, families and staff at RJAH.

The feature highlights patient Kris Haines, who described the Path as “a real gem” that gave him “a sense of normality” during his rehabilitation.

Headley Court are heading to Shropshire!

The Headey Court Charity were incredibly generous in awarding us a £6 million grant back in 2020, making it possible to build and open our Headley Court Veterans' Orthopaedic Centre. Now they are relocating their whole operation to be based out of the centre, with several new Shropshire-based Trustees joining their Board.

We look forward to further collaborations with them in the future - starting with an exciting Veterans' Rehabilitation Service starting soon.
