I caught myself saying the dreaded words…

ā€œI don’t have the timeā€

Right now life is pretty crazy

I’m working 12 hours a day, 5-6 days a week

Training myself has become… interesting

Even though I’m in a gym all that time, my own training has taken a bit of a hit due to my workload

Training before 6am was short lived (I need the sleep)

Training after 6-7pm, I just had nothing left in the tank

I was stressing myself out trying to fit these hour long sessions in somewhere to the week

Until I flipped it on its head

Something I tell to all my clients but forgot to apply it to myself

The optimal training plan is one that fits into your life, not takes over…

Right now is 1 hour optimal for me?

No.

Is more frequent 30 minute workouts optimal for me?

Hell yes

Same amount of training volume over the week

But instead of training 3x a week for an hour

I take my lunch break, and I train 5x for 30 mins

This will probably change again in the future when life slows down

But right now, it fits perfectly into my life

There is no right or wrong way to train

The only important factor is that you’re able to do it consistently

Even though I’m in a gym 60-70 hours a week, I’m still human, I don’t always find it easy to get it in

I get it, it’s hard to work it out when life is just so busy

But there’s always a way to make it fit into your life one way or another

You may just need to change the way you look at it

I let the enemy into my front room…

I was 18 years old

A typical wet, cold Tuesday evening

I hear a knock at the front door

There stood a guy with a clipboard in one hand and a set of scales in the other

It was a Herbalife rep I’d spoken to online…

He came in, sat down and asked me lots of questions about my goals and diet

Being 18 it felt pretty intimidating, I felt like I was being interviewed while subtly being told I’m s**t

He then asked me to jump on the scales (In the evening, on carpet, red flag right there)

And from that one scale reading and the diet info I gave him he magically knew exactly what I needed

Didn’t ask about my exercise, or movement, lifestyle, height, absolutely nothing

Just what I eat for breakfast and my weight

You can guess what I ā€˜needed’ right?

Yep, 2 shakes a day…

One to replace my Breakfast and one to replace my Lunch with just one actual meal in the evening

And guess what! It was my lucky day because that week, and that week only there was a promotion on

I could save some money when I buy the 2 shakes a day package… What a surprise

He told me the price and some how 2 drinks of brown sludge a day costs 1 kidney a month

Thankfully I was a broke college student who could not afford it at all and politely sent him packing

Katie hasn’t lost any weight…

But yet she’s 3 dress sizes down?

Something she’s struggled to achieve for a long time

Why?

Because when the scales didn’t play ball, she got disheartened

Even though underlying there was changes happening, the scales just weren’t showing it

With 2 young boys and working full time

She’s go go go

A good nights sleep is a myth unless her boys allow it

And she gets very little down time

A massive reason why the scales didn’t play ball

But when we worked on shifting her mindset away from the scales, this is where the real magic happened

She’s now 3 dress sizes down

(Much more important that what a number on a step says)

Sometimes the scales are a k**b

At 16 I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life

I was nudged down an engineering path in school because of this

Continuing it in college and even a year in uni until I realised it wasn’t who I was

I was doing it for someone else, not for me

It wasn’t my dream

I then spent a couple of years working at asda trying to figure my life out

What did I want to do?

Where does my passion lie?

And weirdly enough I saw an advert for personal training courses

I’d always loved heath and fitness

I found it so rewarding helping people

So I thought why not ayy?

It’s got to be better than working in a supermarket

The thought of becoming a PT actually excited me

The first time I felt excitement thinking about a job, not just seeing it as a means to an end

From that moment I knew I found my calling

The thing is it took me until I was 21 to figure this out

For me to the figure out how I was going to then turn this qualification into a career

It wasn’t confusing, a minefield of people advising me to do different things to create a business

10 years later and a lot of mistakes and I couldn’t be happier

The moment you realise you’re not happy can feel like a ton of bricks is falling down on you

How do I change?

What am I meant to do about this?

Just like how you’re feeling about changing your lifestyle for the better
