This started with dance, evolved into friendship, and then rocketed into business, travel, soul sharing…from there it unfurled into something so precious that we don’t quite want to let it go.

Our pranayama queen, master of mudras, b***y babe of life and ultimate Radaghast.

Thank you for delving into the forest with us, for lip syncing your heart out, long lunches, children growing side by side, tiny good toes and naughty toes, contemporary field dancing, Jeff Buckley appreciation, Lord of the rings chats, secret pastry snacking, dance flows, playing pirates, kitten cuddles….and then all the magic on the mat that came thereafter.

One of our oldest friends and greatest loves. We wish you well on the Isle of Man. You have become such a vibrant and adored member of our SOMA family, and the old girl just won’t feel the same without you. Roll on retreats, holidays and more wild memories.

As the seasons change and move into hibernation mode, we’re also slowing down in the studio, and Power Flow is shifting into Cozy Yoga.

Slow down, step into a candlelit sanctuary of warmth and stillness. Sip a cuppa and unwind in this gentle, restorative class. It will help you melt away tension and reconnect with calm as you move through soothing stretches and supported poses, and then get cocooned in blankets for guided deep relaxation. Perfect for winter evenings and reminding you that rest is not a luxury, but a return.

Let’s talk access. What are we doing (and not) doing for inclusivity and accessibility.

Where we’re crap…

Stairs. They can be quite problematic for some folk…so whilst we might not appeal to all bodies right now, there are stairless plans on the horizon (really good ones).

Money. Our passes financially align with other boutique style studios, but we would love to be more affordable for those that need. Keep reading to see how we can support ya.

Parking. Sainsbury’s is your closest & cheapest bet…parking is free for 4 hours and you can treat yourself to a bag of groceries on the way home…;)

Where we try to do our best:

We offer free places for refugees.

For all of our in house classes, we offer a ‘try before you buy’ pass.

We offer payment plans to suit varying financial circumstances.

We extend passes whenever you need, so if you’ve got poorly kids or low energy…just let us know to extend your pass.

We offer a ‘honesty pass’ for when money is tight. No questions asked.

We offer a few classes where children are welcome. They can snuggle on the bench and eat hula hoops whilst the adults (attempt to) move.

We have a toilet with baby changing, that can fit a pram/wheelchair/small baby elephant. Take your pick.

Lots of classes are tailored for the ND/AD crew…or for those needing a quieter, calmer space. You don’t need a diagnosis, just tell us your needs and come as you are.

We welcome ALL genders. Warmly.

We deliver free sessions for hard to reach areas of the community.

We are trained in working with the LD community and provide classes for children that offer quiet spaces, emotional support and sign supported learning.

We welcome guide dogs, Dezzy (the retriever/lab cross) is a regular.

We adapt our classes in the moment to meet different needs, with the aid of verbal/hands-on assistance and/or props where required n desired.

We’ve started a community interest company so that we can apply for funding and offer space for therapeutic & creative exploration.

And hey, we know we’re not perfect, but we’re trying.

As we deep dive into Autumn we begin to notice the need to slow down. This resonates for all those small people as well - particularly with new terms and teachers and all that comes with the demands of being on the younger side of life. Hibernation is calling 🧡

So join us for 2 days of slowing down, with gentle crafts and cosy activities - think baking, yoga, mindfulness - and schmores (o’course). All themed around autumn (29th) and Halloween (30th).

This week we dedicate our practice and energy to this incredible human .vs.thebigc.

Tasha has been coming to the studio since day dot and just over 2 years ago Tasha was diagnosed with the bastard that is cancer, and a rare, stage 4 fu**er.

Despite this, Tasha shows up. She’s totally dedicated to her self-love journey and brings a warm abundance of positivity with her. This week marks a potential shift in her treatment that could rapidly shape the reframe her life, so we are holding her in our hearts and on our mats this week.

As we planned our session on this overcast Sunday evening…we thought about beautiful heart openers that invite renewal, strong warrior flows to ignite courage and chanting rituals that ground us in the NOW.

Tasha, thank you for showing that you can find light in darkness and that the power of positivity is the sometimes the best medicine (okay the radiotherapy might help a bit too….) it’s not an easy journey, but you are so loved for everything that is beautifully, authentically you 🩷

Tasha may the only lungless human in Britain soon, but we have no doubt that’ll effect her pranayama practice and she doesn’t just hold up a middle finger to cancer, but she does it with a beaming smile…

All the ‘soma’ wellness wishes for this total hero ###

Bars shouldn’t block rights!

This week we delivered a family yoga session for a group of Fathers with their children at Armley prison. Oh, we also met Doris & Boris, (the prison owls, naturally).

This session was so much more than breathing & moving together, but instead healing together. This isn’t just a bit of mindfulness and bubbles. It’s breaking cycles of trauma, building bonds, and giving families moments of peace in a system that is built to divide.

Yoga in prisons isn’t a luxury — it’s a lifeline. It gives tools to process anger and grief, and it gives children memories of connection instead of surveillance and cold walls.

Programs like yoga with children remind us that love and humanity can survive behind bars and that a strong prison system isn’t simply about punishment — it’s about rehabilitation, growth and kindness. Yoga for these families is one step toward breaking cycles and building stronger futures for the next generation…

Yo Yo Yogis! Some exciting news (can we have a drum roll please….🥁)

✨ New teacher alert!! ✨

With our lovely Cecile leaving for France we’ve got some pretty big boots (or bottes) to fill, but we are confident with our wonderful replacement teacher, Sian.

We’ve actually known Sian for years as she held space for George when she was preggo with numbero uno many moons ago. Since then Sian has been attending classes & retreats at SOMA and also offering the odd bit of cover…so it’s altogether likely you’ve landed on the mat with her before.

We’re very excited to welcome this divine human to the space permanently and we’ve got some exciting things in the yogic pipe lines, in the meantime, a word from the lass herself…

🙏With over 14 years of experience guiding students through Power Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, and Pre/Postnatal practices, my teaching is rooted in creativity, inviting exploration and self expression on the mat. I believe yoga is for every body and am passionate about creating inclusive spaces where students feel seen, respected, and empowered. I offer support with compassion, intention, and a bit of playful fire🙏

As blissful as this sunshine is, what we love MOST about England (except scones) is the turn of each season. So whilst we’re lapping up the Vit D we can’t help but look forward to cosy socks, amber speckled leaves & big bowls of belly warming soup.

So this Autumn we are hosting a beautiful retreat day for anyone needing a lil’ restoration & soul top up!

A day to experience a beautiful blend of invigorating movement & yoga, a trek into the great outdoors, belly-filling & nourishing food, moments of mindfulness and meditation and of course, good old SOMA treats along the way.
