Happy Sunday everyone 😊

This week’s classes are all about Agni (our digestive fire).

Strong Agni = great health

In ayurveda the health of our digestive fire is EVERYTHING! We need a strong fire to digest not just our food but our emotions, environment and everything we come in contact with.

When our fire is weak we loose our spark, struggle with digestive symptoms and toxins begin to build up in our body & mind.

We will learn how to kindle our fire with yoga asana and breathwork that build heat and take away some Ayurvedic lifestyle tips on how to eat mindfully that you can use in your daily routine.

One Ayurvedic practice not to be missed due to its many benefits to both mind and body.

Abhyanga can be performed at any time of day but is most suited to early morning or late afternoon when we are not overly full from our meals.

Pick a high quality of oil that is suitable for your dosha (organic & cold pressed is best) :-

Vata - sesame oil, almond or olive oil
Pitta - sunflower, coconut or almond oil
Kapha - safflower, sesame or mustard oil

Warm your oil for extra indulgence and comfort.

Use circular motions on joints and long sweeping strokes on limbs moving towards the heart. Use a clockwise motion on the abdomen and chest. On days when you can leave the oil in your hair, take the oil onto the scalp using your finger tips to massage. As you massage give gratitude to the body, thanking it for all that it does (for a greater body positivity connection).

Take a moment to let the oil sink in whilst you rest.

Follow with a warm bath or shower.

Practice daily or as many times a week as you can manage.

Dinacharya (daily routine)

Over a 24 hour period our body and mind has its own natural rhythm. When we choose to keep to the same daily pattern of when we wake up, when we eat and when we retire to bed it helps to maintain this pattern.

When we have irregular patterns in our days we can confuse our body causing imbalance to occur.

The Ayurvedic 24 hour clock shows us when each dosha naturally rises and falls which gives us an even greater insight into when to work, rest and play to help us get the most out of our day working inline with nature and the elements.

Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old holistic healing system from India which looks to treat imbalances from the root. In your consultation you are given time to talk about any health concerns you may have. Rather than sending you away with a pill or lotion we will look at your diet and lifestyle and see if there is anything that you may be doing that is causing problems. Ayurveda sees that we all have a dosha (body/mind type) and different doshas do better with different diets, types of exercise and different ayurvedic practices. Finding out your particular dosha type is key information to better health.

What to expect - Prior to your appointment you will be sent an in-depth consultation form to fill out in your own time. In your 90 minute Ayurvedic health consultation we will go through your form together, determine your dosha (individual body type), discuss any health concerns you may have and see where these imbalances may be coming from.

After our consultation I will send you your treatment plan which will include your dosha balance, diet, exercise and lifestyle advice, recipes, ayurvedic herb recommendations if needed, stress reduction practices, techniques for better sleep and ayurvedic self care practices all to regain balance within your body and mind.

Abhyanga Back Massage is BACK!

I'm very excited to announce that I can now offer my Abhyanga back, neck and shoulder massage treatments again! Yippee! I've been working very hard behind the scenes with physio, gym work and massage practice to build my strength back up in my shoulder and I'm finally ready.

If you would like to book in I will be offering appointments during the following times:-

Tuesdays - 1pm - 4pm
Wednesdays - 1pm - 6pm
Saturdays - 10am - 1pm

If you are struggling to make any of the times/days above please get in contact as I can sometimes be flexible with my working days/hours.
