Come watch my cringey video prepping my food for the following day 😁

I wanted to get the message across to you dieters that you don’t have to weigh every single morsel of food. But also show you that I don’t ask my dieters to do anything that I’m not prepared to do, I live a very full and enjoyable life, but when it’s time to knuckle down , it’s time - I’m gonna share my progress with you over the coming weeks.

You don’t have to eat things you don’t like, and you don’t have to be absolutely starving on a diet. Even if you’re using fatloss injections and not strength training - which I’m not endorsing- but I know it’s common.

What you do have to do is-

Prioritise protein for muscle retention and satiety - no muscle mass = no shape, and no support for your joints

Be consistent- meal prepping and Tupperware might be boring - but you’re not dieting forever. If you’re not weighing or tracking food, then you have to find a way to be consistent. When you’re hungry , it’s easy to eyeball food and assume it’s the right portion size - but end up overeating. Weekends count ! You can still have a life but you have to change the habits that have got you to a place you don’t feel happy or healthy.

Ensure you’re getting enough micronutrients as well as protein. Getting plenty of fibre for gut health is equally as important as protein. These are the habits that will keep you in shape once you get there. You don’t revert back to your old habits when the diet is over - eating well is for life - not just for lean and keen.

Finally , if you are tracking food , or eating healthy , but not seeing results - it’s highly likely that you’re making mistakes with tracking, or you’re not being honest with yourself. Maybe you’re not eating the right amount of protein to match your training. Or maybe your training isn’t the right intensity.

There’s nothing more frustrating than feeling like you’re trying really hard but not actually getting anywhere.

Let me help you figure it out šŸ¤œšŸ»šŸ¤›šŸ»

Lean and keen is group fatloss coaching.

Ideal if you feel like you’re putting ALL the effort in and getting nowhere.

It lasts for 8 weeks.

I usually do a monthly intake.

May starts next week.

I set your food and calories but also help out by finding family friendly , easy to make high protein recipes.

I also share some of my diet hacks and teach you about nutrition along the way.

I don’t share everybody’s pictures as not everyone is comfortable with this, but I’ve helped over 50 people get into shape.

You could let the time pass and complain that you’re not where you want to be, or you could take action today.

Choose your own outcome. šŸ¤œšŸ»šŸ¤›šŸ»

Day 1 or 1 day šŸ˜†

What a cliche.

Breakfast, pre workout snack, post workout snack and lunch prepped and ready. Tea is already planned āœ… set yourself up for success and make the choices easy - don’t make decisions on an empty stomach 😩

I’ve had a ride for a long old time. Came back from a 2 week holiday without any additional holiday weight gain. Because I don’t treat holidays as an excuse to eat everything in sight.

But also , I’ve had 2 years of building a business and being very busy so that dieting hasn’t really been a priority for me. Life is BUSY , but when you finally make the decision to enter a diet, give it an end date, and lock in. 8 weeks for me starting today ā°

Stop making excuses for yourself , you either want it or you don’t, but don’t be disappointed when the results don’t show up from the effort you haven’t put in.

Join me for my May intake of lean n keen. We’ve had some amazing fatloss results since January with each monthly intake.
May intake starts next Monday, but why waste time? If you sign up today you can be prepared and ready and start with me šŸ™‹šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Don’t have another summer complaining that you haven’t got round to putting yourself first, and you feel uncomfortable in your clothes.

Take action today šŸ“²

People only see the good bits of being a business owner.

The times I take off work when they’re in their 9-5. The times I don’t have to be physically in work anymore and can go off for brunch or be at home with my family.

The idea that members = income.

What they don’t see is me being on my laptop on a bank holiday trying to sort out payments because I upgraded to a new system and there were tonnes of unexpected errors. Whilst I stress that my bills will be paid late.

The carpet cleaning and maintenance that I finally got my husband to do because he’s worked every weekend since Christmas.

The hidden overheads of running a business.

The holidays and time off I take where I’m still constantly on my phone.

But I wouldnt have it any other way.

I am unbelievably proud and grateful to be in this position.

What a privilege it is to wake up and work with such a great community of people.

How lucky am I that I met a whole bunch of friends, all whilst getting them feeling better, stronger and fitter than they ever have.

What an honour to be rushing around trying to make sure everything is sorted out properly so that I can go on a trip with my entire family.

And when customers leave us, but later return I’m overjoyed that they didn’t just choose us once, but twice because we are the right fit for each other šŸ¤œšŸ»šŸ¤›šŸ»

Every monthly intake I always get a couple of people asking to sign up after we’ve already got started.

I never have the heart to say no.

If you’re on the fence about whether to jump in now - take this as your sign.

Make my Sunday easier so I can get you all started right from the off.

There is never going to be a perfect time. You will always have holidays, social events , a busy life, work , family.

The best results come from people who still do these things , but ask for help and adapt their habits around life. Choose better food when eating out. Drink less at socials or choose a different type of drink. Do a little extra activity daily. Increase their steps a bit every day.

They don’t go all in for 8 solid weeks and then return to how they were.

They change their behaviour long term, habit stacking along the way.

They change their approach to daily habits that add up to massive change along the way.

Message me today if this is you.

Tried and tested methods that have worked on most of my clients to date.

I’m a runner now (again šŸ™„) but strength training will always be at the core of whatever I do.

I still train 3 days a week on top of my running because -

Resistance training gave me a body shape I don’t hate like I used to.

It has given me strong bones to protect me from osteoporosis as I age, and stronger joints so I move better.

It’s given me muscle mass so that my body burns more calories at rest.

It’s given me better insulin sensitivity, my body can handle carbohydrates better because they are utilised during training

It helps me regulate my hormones linked to fat storage , energy and appetite (especially important for women through menopause)

It’s given me confidence that I’m strong, and I can handle whatever life throws at me.

It helps me manage stress and anxiety

Helps me age well
Maintains muscle mass, balance, and coordination — meaning I will stay independent, mobile, and capable for longer.

Improves discipline & consistency
Showing up, progressing lifts, sticking to a plan builds mental resilience that spills into work, diet, and life.

So the bumper plates will always have my heart ā¤ļø

Why you think diets fail…

1. You start strong, but don’t stay in your deficit for long enough to see meaningful results. Your calories might be too high coupled with low activity, or too low meaning you struggle to stick with the low food and activity levels. The sweet spot is very important.

2. You lack accountability, meaning it’s easy to fall into old habits - nobody’s watching, and nobody but you actually cares what you eat without that support.

3. Your food choices become stale and boring so you end up blowing your calories on food that is hyper palatable and dense in calories

4. You have followed that many accounts on social media that you’re confused. You’ve heard that all these sexy things are ā€œmeant to be good for youā€ so you fall into the trap of trying something different every other week.

5. You’ve worked with a coach but didn’t gel with them or their methods, this is also very important. Having some respect for their knowledge and enjoying how they deliver their methods is key to making this work.

This is where I come in, if you have been limping along trying but feeling frustrated, join my lean and keen group coaching for April.

DM me today to be added to the list šŸ“±

and I have worked together for a couple of years now.

We’re coming to the end of his 3rd dieting phase. Right before his holiday.

During this time , he’s had a social life, Christmas, holidays. All the usual stuff that the general population client does.

I haven’t had him meal prepping like he’s stepping on stage.

I haven’t dictated that he can’t drink alcohol, but we have discussed how to navigate some socials - usually ending in him being worse for wear because spirits aren’t for the fast drinkers 🄓

He trains hard, he does some cardio to stay active and healthy, he eats well, and every time we diet his food is a little higher because his body composition improves .

But really the hard work has to come from within.

I’m kinda mean to Joe because that’s the nature of our friendship, but believe me when I say that I’m very proud of joes efforts and for trusting me to make him a healthier version of himself.

If you’re looking to do the same kind of transformation, you can work with me online via my lean and keen monthly fatloss group, without having to be a member of my gym or work 1-1 - but it does help 😁

Hey šŸ‘‹šŸ»

I’m Nikki , the owner of the yard gym in a market town called otley.

My soul aim for opening my business was to educate people in how to train properly, why strength training is vital for longevity, and to make attending the gym so enjoyable it’s no longer seen as a chore. It was to make a space that is welcoming, representative of community, and a place where you shouldn’t ever feel out of place , or worry that you’re doing it wrong.

There are around 15,000 people living in otley , and 3 gyms (the other 2 are much bigger than I am) plus yoga studios and run clubs.

Of those 15,000 I have around 120 members.

What a tiny fraction of the population. Not all of them live here.

Of my loyal members , most of them now take their health and fitness fairly seriously. With a dash of enjoyment peppered in.

I’m on a mission to recruit more of you, so you too can see the benefit of getting physically stronger. And if a side effect of that is improving your composition, and a better approach to health then my job is done.

Message me GYM to arrange an appointment to visit and chat through your goals. Come and see what’s behind my door, and know that it isn’t as scary and daunting as you might think.

Our lift classes are designed to be as inclusive as possible to ensure everyone gets the most out of them. So they are literally designed with you in mind. What are you waiting for ?

It was international women’s day on Sunday.

I didn’t miss it accidentally , I missed it because I’m a woman in business , overwhelmed. Trying to attract new customers whilst keeping existing ones happy. Answering all my messages , but not so much that it pi**es my family off. Looking at my business growth getting excited for the future, but apprehensive in case it all goes wrong. Updating my social media so it’s interesting, but not so much that people think it’s all about me - hint, it is.

I’m a woman that’s also a mum to 4 children, a 10 year old that’s growing rapidly and I’m clutching to those days that he still likes to do fun things with his mum. 2 teenage girls that are entering womanhood but still act like girls and spend their days with me also but shopping or food, no walking anywhere ever. And mum to an adult son who doesn’t live at home but I like to still meet him so he doesn’t feel forgotten about.

I’m a woman who entered a marriage in a traditional family sense with very much pink and blue jobs still trying to keep my house clean, do washing, make tea, that everyone insists on asking about despite knowing it’s going to be rubbish. Life is very different now so the guilt over not having any enthusiasm for home making is real.

Im a woman that’s also keen to look after myself trying to get my protein and fibre in, adequate rest, enough sleep, maintain my muscle mass, get faster at running, stretch, posture upright (no stooping). Eat well so I’m fuelled but not too much that I gain extra body fat, lead the way for my clients but not be too patronising. Be fun but act my age.

I’m a woman that’s been married for 19 years, making time for each other, keeping my marriage alive, making exciting plans but also trying not to be snappy with my declining oestrogen that hrt doesn’t always seem to cut. Walking my dog to make sure I get my steps in

So a belated happy international women’s day.
I was in a bad mood on Sunday so couldn’t be arsed to post about it šŸ˜†

Here’s me with one of my faves doing a hard thing to prove that female doesn’t equal pathetic. And young me who had no idea what was to come ā¤ļø

Gave up on my bodybuilding plans this year when I realised I’ve too much on my plate and it’s an expensive hobby that I just can’t really afford with all my BIG plans.

Sometimes you have to admit that you actually can’t have it all.

So instead I’m back in my running era AGAIN

Every time I start this and get a bit better I’m impatient and go too hard too fast. End up injured and say it’s not for me.

But my Saturday morning long run is the highlight of my week. Even though it can be tedious for the faster runners having to wait for me šŸ„¹šŸ˜†I run without a pace , without looking at my heart rate, it’s off road so lots of hills and mud. It’s with some of my very favourite people, and there’s always coffee and breakfast at the end 😁

I’m taking my recovery runs very seriously this time around.

If I can continuously try and fail at something people expect me to be good at and have to face the embarrassment. Why can’t you - the beginner - admit that you might just benefit from a little help from someone that is more experienced than you are.

It’s not embarrassing to step into a gym and admit that you want to be better - that’s empowering šŸ’„

When I look at how much our amazing community has grown over the past 12 months I’m both excited and proud. Because as we grow I want to share all my big plans with those people and take them along for the ride. Forever grateful for their loyalty and dedication that makes it all possible ā¤ļø

Wait till the zombie apocalypse hits then my running will be put to good use 🤩
