Just breathe 🤍
It sounds simple, but in labour, it’s everything ✨
As a midwife, one of the first things I do when someone arrives in labour is gently bring them back to their breathing.
Because when contractions are building and everything feels intense, your breath can either work against you… or completely support you.
Breathing helps to:
🤍 Keep your body as relaxed as possible
🤍 Reduce tension (which can reduce pain)
🤍 Bring oxygen to you and your baby
🤍 Give you something to focus on when things feel overwhelming
And most importantly, it helps you feel more in control!
I’ve seen it so many times…
That moment when someone slows their breathing, softens their body, and everything just feels a little more manageable ✨
It’s not about doing it perfectly,
It’s about having something to come back to, again and again.
Because in labour, your breath is one of your most powerful tools 🤍
