In August, Pamela, a carer at our Oxford branch, was awarded a Values Award. Pamela received this for going the extra mile with a client and remaining calm when things get hard. Pamela is very committed to the quality of care, and always cheering clients up with a smile. Congratulations Pamela, thank you for your wonderful work!

One of our Directors, Annabella, walked 26 miles last Saturday in 8 hours to raise money for Alzheimer's Society.

Alzheimer's Society organises fund raising treks of either 13 or 26 miles during the year at different locations, and the one Annabella took part in was in Suffolk.

Annabella raised over £1300 which was a great sum. Over £600,000 was raised in total from all the participants in the trek on Saturday. Annabella was delighted with the amount she raised and grateful to all those who donated to her Go Funding page, it will all go towards the great work done by Alzheimer's Society.

The 1st Homecare Kings Langley office will be at the Kings Langley carnival tomorrow, Saturday 21st June. If you are in the area, please come along and see Helen and Kayleigh at the 1st Homecare stall and have a go at naming the bear!

This week it is the Alzheimer's Society Dementia Action Week https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/get-involved/dementia-action-week to raise awareness of the importance of an early diagnosis for people affected by dementia.

We are taking part by hosting coffee mornings at our branches in Kings Langley, Leighton Buzzard and Oxford this week for our clients, carers and any member of the public who would like to come along for a tea, coffee and slice of cake and to learn more about dementia and how we at 1st Homecare can support our clients who have been given a diagnosis of dementia.

The Kings Langley office is hosting the coffee morning today, Tuesday 20th May, from 11am-3pm.

The Leighton Buzzard office is holding one on Thursday 22nd May from 11am-3pm.

The Oxford office is holding one on Friday 23rd May from 11am-3pm.

One of our directors, Annabella, is walking 26 miles for the Alzheimer's Society on 2nd August 2025 along the Suffolk Coast. We want to support the Alzheimer's Society in every way we can for the invaluable work it does to help fight dementia.

On Friday 7th March, our CEO John went with Managers Sinead and Helen to the Homecare Awards ceremony in Birmingham. We were shortlisted in two categories and were thrilled when we were announced as the winner of the Gold Award Most Outstanding Regional Care Group for 2025. This is a real achievement and we are delighted that all the hard work that has been put into 1st Homecare, has paid off. We are truly grateful to every one of our carers and office team who make it all happen, and to our managers for all their hard work too.

CALLING ON BUDDING WRITERS!
The Care Workers' Charity is inviting all care workers to take part in its 7th Annual Writing Competition.
This year’s theme, “The Future of Social Care,” aims to spark meaningful conversations and showcase the voices of care workers across the UK.
