After much thought, we’ve made the difficult decision to close The Little Acupuncture Room.

Your donations, bookings and recommendations have helped keep TLAR open up until now, allowing us to continue helping the families who need it most. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported this project along the way.

Our final clinic day will be Tuesday 24th March 2026.

Over the years the team have had the privilege of supporting many children and families, and we’re so pleased that this work will be able continue in different ways.

From 21st April 2026, Rebecca Avern will continue to treat babies, children and teenagers in the same room at West Oxford Community Centre on Tuesdays 3–7pm, under the name 'Panda Community Clinic', where she also offers low-cost acupuncture for families on a low income or receiving benefits.

Appointments can now be booked online: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule/3f956675/category/Osney

The other TLAR practitioners will also continue treating children in their private practices, and you can find all of their details on the TLAR website: https://www.thelittlehealthhub.com/childrens-therapies/acupuncture

Thank you.

The TLAR team 🧡

Happy Lunar New Year from all of us at The Little Acupuncture Room!

As we welcome the Year of the Fire Horse, we celebrate a fresh start, brighter days, and the return of spring energy 🌱

In East Asian culture, Lunar New Year (also known as the Spring Festival) marks the end of winter and the beginning of a new cycle — a time to clear out the old, reconnect with loved ones, and make space for growth.

Children may begin to feel more energy stirring in their bodies and minds — especially if they’ve had time to rest this winter. It’s a powerful moment for renewal, creativity and reconnection.

Wishing you and your family a peaceful and joyful new year ❤️

Our hope is that all children feel loved, and love themselves ❤️

We’re well and truly back in the swing of things after the Christmas break...

It’s been a full and busy few weeks at the clinic, supporting children with a wide range of needs—from allergies, constipation, sickness and nausea, changing moods to stutters.

One of the reasons we all love acupuncture, is the amount of differing conditions it can help.

If your child could do with some support this term, we’re here.

Appointments are available every Tuesday until 8pm.

One of our favourite reminders — and founder Rebecca Avern’s go-to words of wisdom to share with children 💛

“The things that make me different, are the things that make me me.” – Piglet

At The Little Acupuncture Room, we see every child as beautifully unique. Whether they’re shy, sensitive, bold, creative, anxious or full of beans — we meet them just as they are, and honour what makes them them.

Because difference isn’t something to fix — it’s something to cherish. 🌈

This lovely moment was captured after a recent treatment — a reminder of why we do what we do.
Families come to us seeking relief, comfort, and support for their children and often leave feeling just a little lighter.

As a not-for-profit clinic, we rely on your donations to keep our doors open. Every contribution helps us continue to offer low-cost acupuncture to babies, children, and teenagers — so no child misses out on the care they need.

Your support means:
🧡 More smiling families
🧡 More calm children heading into the school day
🧡 More accessible healthcare for all

If you’re in a position to give we would be so grateful.

Let Winter do What Winter Does Best!

As we settle into the new year, January invites us to slow down and soften our pace — just like nature does.

🧸 Make room for play without an agenda
🛏 Prioritise early bedtimes and gentle mornings
🐢 Allow your child time to “warm up” each day

Just like seeds resting underground, our children need time to gather energy and grow — in their own time, in their own way. There’s no need to rush.

Happy New Year from all of us at The Little Acupuncture Room!

As the world speeds up again — new routines, new intentions, new demands — we want to offer you something quieter.

In Chinese medicine, winter is the most yin time of the year: a season for hibernation, restoration, and deep replenishment. It’s not the time to surge forward, but to gather strength for the coming spring.

This applies to children just as much as adults. If your child seems slower, more tired, more inward — they’re likely doing exactly what they need to.

Let’s all go gently into 2026 🧡

Happy Holidays from all of us at The Little Acupuncture Room!

As the year draws to a close, we’re feeling incredibly grateful — for our community, for your trust, and for all we’ve achieved together this year:

🧡 Secured funding to keep TLAR running for at least another 6 months
👂 Introduced auricular acupuncture for parents & carers — moments of calm just for you
👩‍⚕️ Welcomed two brilliant team members — Berenice and Ania
🖥️ Laid the groundwork for a brand new booking system launching in January

Thank you for being part of our journey — we couldn’t do it without you!

We hope the winter break brings rest, joy, and connection with the people who matter most.

Here’s to slowing down and celebrating the small and big wins. See you in 2026! 💫

In Chinese medicine, winter is the season of the Kidneys — a time to quietly build energy and nourish the deeper reserves that support growth and vitality.

Some of the best kidney-supportive ingredients are also wonderful for family meals:
🫘 Black beans
🌾 Rice
🧅 Leeks
🌰 Walnuts
🎃 Pumpkin seeds
🍓 Goji berries
🍲 Mineral-rich broths (with a pinch of sea salt)

You might like to cook a simple soup, stew or warm grain bowl with your child — not just for the health benefits, but for the calm connection that comes with sharing a task in a quiet kitchen.
