Buca Mario 📍 Firenze ❤️
If you are ever are visiting Florence, the incredible has to be at the top of your to do list.
Located in the heart of the city in a 16th-century vaulted dining room, this restaurant is the complete package. Location, ambience, and most importantly, incredible food!
Buca Mario prides itself on high quality, local and seasonal produce. This meant that a number of our choices were only available due to the time of year we visited (in September) such as courgette/zucchini flowers!
Also, even though this restaurant is on the , it does not come with the outrageous price tag which is always a welcome surprise.
As this was our first visit, we opted for a selection of different dishes so we could try as many different things as possible. These included:
- Sliced steak fillet with potatoes & mushrooms.
- Homemade spinach and ricotta raviolo in a butter sage sauce.
- Homemade potato gnocchi in a gorgonzola sauce.
- Fried courgette/zucchini flowers.
- Fried seafood plate.
- Tiramisu.
- Lemon tart with fresh berries.
- Liquor soaked pear with cream.
We paired this with a lovely bottle of local Tuscan Chianti red wine. A must have when in Florence 🍷
For those of you that know about Florence, there is one particular dish that we didn't have the opportunity to taste during our visit, and that is the 'Bistecca alla Fiorentina' aka. the Florentine Steak 🥩
Due to the size of this dish, we opted to go instead for the fillet steak this time around, and instead save the Florentine for our next visit -- which is taking place next week for our 5th anniversary! We cannot wait! ❤️
This is an absolute must visit, and one we cannot wait to return to next week. Thank you for an experience we won't forget!
