🎙️ Non-Mole Skin Cancers: BCC & SCC
When we think about skin cancer, most people immediately think of moles and melanoma. But did you know that the most common skin cancers are actually non-mole cancers?
Today, Dr Rai talks about:
🔎 Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)
The most common type of skin cancer. It often appears as:
• A pearly or shiny bump
• A sore that doesn’t heal
• A pink patch or scar-like area
BCC grows slowly and rarely spreads, but early treatment is essential to prevent local damage.
🔎 Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)
The second most common type. It may look like:
• A scaly red patch
• A crusted or bleeding lesion
• A firm, raised growth
SCC can grow more quickly than BCC and has a higher risk of spreading if left untreated.
☀️ Sun exposure is the biggest risk factor for both types, especially on the face, ears, scalp, and hands.
If you notice a new lesion that won’t heal, bleeds easily, or continues to change, don’t ignore it.
📅 Early diagnosis means simpler treatment and better outcomes.
