The Ann Taylor Medical Society

Welcome to the official SEH society for medics and biomedics - The Ann Taylor Medical Society. This is a network of current and former Teddy Hall medic and biomed students, and serves as a platform to share ideas, organise events/socials, offer academic support or advice, and most of all foster interest in bridging the gap between pre-clinical and clinical courses.

Teddy Hall is now an established medical college at Oxford, and with our tutors increasingly involved in the running of medical school affairs (both pre-clinical and clinical), a group of us thought an established, centralised, and inclusive forum for the students was necessary. Whilst previous societies have served to act in similar ways in the past, we have found that there has been a lack of continuity that has resulted in progressive detachment between year groups. We want to re-integrate all the years under one self-sustaining society, and look to improve the profile of college.

From this year onwards, we will be appointing a committee that serves to establish the foundation for the continuation of this society. Roles will include a President, Vice President, and Academic Officer.

We will also be looking to reinforce a strong alumnus network within the group, and prioritise the exchange of peer tutorials and the sharing of notes and resources at all levels. Furthermore, we will host bi-termly social events and look to organise a high-profile speaker on a topic of interest. These social events will also serve as platform for students to present research topics (e.g. SSM, summer projects etc) and also to meet students in years above and establish a precedent for sharing their wisdom and experience. We will also serve a pastoral role whereby we can confidentially help and advise on any academic affairs, through peer support.
