I saw an ad from a window cleaner with:
– no phone number
– no contact form
– no areas covered
That’s a waste of their time posting and people’s time reading.
Some of the biggest mistakes I see Oxfordshire businesses make when advertising online 👇
I see this every week, across Facebook, Instagram, Google and websites.
❌ Boosting random posts with no strategy
❌ No clear offer – just “here’s what we do”
❌ No call to action – what do you actually want people to do?
❌ Targeting everyone instead of the right people
❌ Sending traffic to a homepage instead of a focused landing page
❌ Judging ads after 24–48 hours and turning them off too early
❌ Copying what big brands do (they have huge budgets – you don’t)
❌ No tracking – no idea what works, what doesn’t, or why
Online advertising isn’t about being clever.
It’s about being clear.
The businesses that win:
✔ know exactly who they’re talking to
✔ solve one problem at a time
✔ make it easy to take the next step
✔ test, measure, adjust
If your ads “aren’t working”, most of the time it’s not the platform – it’s the setup.
Local businesses don’t need more ads.
They need better structure.
