Oxford osteopaths have a proven track record of helping people with Back, Neck and Joint pains. We have been in practice for more than 25 years and have built our reputation by being professional, honest and clear with our approach to informing, advising and treating patients. Osteopathy is a system of manual medicine which focuses on a ‘whole body' approach. Osteopaths use a variety of approaches to free up joint restrictions, increase spinal and muscle flexibility, improve circulation as well as providing lifestyle advice and specific exercises. Most people visit an osteopath for pain relief and to restore mobility and here at Oxford osteopaths we aim to do just that. Fees:

Mike Harding - clinic principal, osteopath and acupuncturist

How can Mike fix me?

Mike is a musculoskeletal expert specialising in pain, body alignment, movement mechanics and posture. He takes a hands-on approach to diagnosis combining years' of experience with orthopedic testing, and has a proven track record using osteopathic techniques to improve back pain, sciatica, shoulder pain, hip pain, headaches and much more.

Why should I book with Mike?

When you become a client, Mike makes a commitment to help you achieve your health and fitness goals as quickly as possible with effective treatment, clear explanations, and take-home exercise and advice. He loves answering questions, especially about pain. More than 80% of our clients book based on a personal recommendation or after reading our Google Reviews.

What is his style of treatment?

His treatments usually involve direct techniques such as deep pressure, joint mobilisation (including HVTs where you may hear the joint 'pop') and stretching. His approach is typically quite firm, but modified based on age, body type and client preference to achieve the best results. He also uses acupuncture (dry needling) as required, particularly on myofascial trigger points, sprained ligaments and tendinopathies.

Who does he like to work with?

Primarily adults and older children. In particular, he likes to help people with back and neck pain, postural correction issues, sports performance and injury rehabilitation.

Therapy Room for hire 🎉

Our newly refurbished therapy room is available to hire. Partitioned from the main clinic and set away from the main road, the room benefits from being spacious, warm and quiet. It is complemented with desk, electric 3-section plinth, hot water and storage units.

Hire Terms 🙂

The room is available to hire by the half day or full day, on a weekly basis with fees payable 1 month in advance. The practitioner(s) would license the room from the clinic on a monthly rolling contract with a 1 month cancellation notice.

The Practitioner/Therapist 💆🙋🏻‍♀️👨🏽‍⚕️

In the past the room has been hired for talking therapy and massage, but would suit other therapy professions including podiatry, physiotherapy or dieticians. Depending on the profession there is also an opportunity to work closely with the main clinic (osteopathy/massage) and to cross-refer clients.

Price

The price is negotiable based on the level of commitment, the number of days licensed per week and whether the practitioner wishes to be part of the main clinic, or to be stand-alone.

If you're interested, we'd be happy to show round and discuss specific details. You can send a message via Instagram messenger to the clinic director, Mike Harding

The design is inspired by walks in rural Oxfordshire, with lots of deep greens and natural wood. We deliberately chose a less clinical palate, based around helping clients feel calm and relaxed before treatment starts. The display unit was reclaimed and restored by Mike, you won't find one in the shops. Treatment rooms are now bright with lots of natural light, and resonate calm and tranquility. We hope you agree it's a perfect space for healing and therapy.

Habitual loss of movement results in reduced elasticity of connective tissue.

Or... if you don't move your body you feel stiff!!

The good news is this process is reversible and we can help you to get back on track whatever your age or fitness level.

If you have a sedentary lifestyle and a job where you sit down most of the day, we know it takes more effort and mental willpower to get moving. But we're on your side, we know you can do it!

Osteopathy works by mobilising joints, increasing your pain threshold and helping your fascia become more elastic and liquid-like.

Ultimately, we know you'll feel great, but we'll also support you with your exercise and stretches that will help maintain the increased mobility.

29/07/2021

Children can do some amazing things with their bodies thanks to proprioception. Learned physical experiences - good and bad - are stored in the cerebellum (a part of the brain tucked beneath the cerebral hemispheres 🧠), and summoned for each present moment of physical activity.

The process never stops, your entire physical history transcends every moment of your life. We take it for granted until accumulated injuries and trauma (mental and physical) result in proprioception gaps and inhibition of normal movement. As a result, normally elastic connective tissue loses its ability to stretch and rebound.

Osteopaths are trained to assess your movement, including proprioception, and use techniques that help to restore the function of connective tissue, getting you back on track whatever you like to do.
