Join us on Thursday 19th March (5-7pm) at the farm for a relaxed and informative introduction to goat milking, and take your first step towards joining our Goat Milking Programme.

You'll spend a couple of hours learning the fundamentals of safe, calm and hygienic goat milking. Bradley, our Animal Lead, will guide you through the process, explain our daily routines, and answer your questions. This session is designed to give you a clear understanding of what's involved and whether the programme is right for you.

This session is ideal for anyone interested in learning more about dairy goats and animal care.

Tickets are £10, for more info & to sign up: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/goat-milking-induction-tickets-1979584571743?aff=oddtdtcreator

We may have tricked some plants into thinking it's time to grow but that means we have to batten down the hatches when it's cold outside!

We've covered all our tomato seedlings with two layers of fleece and tucked our chilli seedlings onto our heated sand bed with it's own insulation just to be safe.

During this week's Wellies and Bellies group (for adults with long-term health conditions) we enjoyed admiring this season's tiny new lamb (the small black smudge on the grass by it's mum), and using fresh farm eggs to whip up a cherry Bakewell (yes it was seriously good!)

We're looking for folk to join our Pig Programme - our pigs are a certified rare breed, Oxford Sandy and Black, developed right here in our region over centuries. They grow more slowly than commercial breeds — but the flavour and quality of the meat is exceptional. Without small farms like ours, this heritage breed risks disappearing.

You don’t need experience.
You just need to commit to one shift per week.
- Free to join (or £45 credit toward meat with 20% discount)
- Free training provided
- Morning or evening shifts
- Be part of protecting agricultural heritage

We’re looking for at least 30 households to join the 2026 programme.

Our next FREE Pig Programme training is on Saturday 28th March 2-4pm, so if you're ready to take your first step to joining our Pig Programme please sign up here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/pig-programme-induction-tickets-1983950468257?aff=oddtdtcreator

If you're interested in joining our Poultry Volunteer Programme, raising over 100 laying hens, pop down to the farm this afternoon at 2pm for our free poultry volunteer training!

As a poultry volunteer, you will be expected to come to at least one shift a fortnight at either 0800 or in the evening. On your shift you will top off the feed and grit, refill their water, check their shelter and fences, and clean up any of their waste in the coops.

This training will teach you how to do all of these tasks and look after their wellbeing, even if you have never looked after livestock before. This will include basic veterinary care and animal welfare.

You'll be joining around 40 other households in raising these animals and many other volunteers who come to the farm every morning and evening to look after the pigs, poultry, goats, and sheep.

Training is at 2pm at the farm this afternoon!

Since September 2021, Emma Hood, one of the Farm’s Group Facilitators has been facilitating our weekly Wellies and Bellies group, a wellbeing session for adults with long-term health conditions.

This brilliant group of people has been turning up rain hail or shine for years, to spend time with each other and the animals and then to cook and eat lunch together with as much Farm produce as we can squeeze onto the menu.

Sadly we’re bringing this session to a close at the end of this month so we’ll be posting photos from our final four sessions in March in celebration of all the fun, care, mutual support, respite, entertainment and (aside from the occasional disaster!) excellent food we’ve been sharing together over the years.
