Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust We provide mental health and community services in Oxfordshire & mental health services in Buckinghamshire

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust provides physical and mental health and social care with the aim of improving the health and wellbeing of all our patients and their families. We currently run eight community hospitals in Oxfordshire, as well as providing mental health services in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and elsewhere. We also work in partnership with others such as GPs, local universities,

local authorities and voluntary organisations. If you or someone you care for needs to be admitted to hospital your care will be co-ordinated by a team of people and as close to home as possible. Our aim is always to work with you and your family to get you home as soon as you are well enough and continue to support you there.

🤔 Do you know about the OPEN-ARMS clinic?

The OPEN-ARMS clinic is an early psychosis prevention clinic specialising in identifying and supporting young people aged 14–35 during this early phase

Many people who develop psychosis show early warning signs before a diagnosis, offering a critical opportunity for timely, specialist support to improve outcomes.

The clinic works alongside existing Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust teams to identify and support young people before a first episode of psychosis develops, reducing crisis presentations, hospital admissions and prolonged inpatient care.

We are massively proud to celebrate three Oxford Health social workers who have been recognised nationally by the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) for the incredible work they do every day.

👏 Hilda Eduah
👏 Nathalie Rabet Kassi
👏 Connor Brough

All three were named finalists in BASW’s Amazing Social Workers campaign, which highlights people across the UK who make a real difference to the lives of the adults, children and families they support. It is a celebration of the compassion, skill and determination that sits at the heart of great social work.

More than 300 individuals and teams were nominated this year, so being selected as a finalist is a fantastic achievement. We are delighted to see Hilda, Nathalie and Connor recognised in this way, and we want to say a huge thank you for the care and commitment they bring to our communities!

You can see all of this year’s finalists on the BASW website:

RESIDENT DOCTORS STRIKE 7-13 APRIL.
We will be working as normal through the Industrial Action planned next week (from the 7-13 April) and have well-established continuity plans to minimise impact.
The British Medical Association (BMA) action is set to take place from 07:00 on Tuesday 7 April until 06:59 on Monday 13 April.
NHS Oxford Health provides physical, mental health and social care across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Swindon, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset.
During the industrial action, care will continue to be delivered through strong multi‑disciplinary team (MDT) working, including consultants, specialty and specialist (SAS) doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and wider clinical teams.
Dr Karl Marlowe, Chief Medical Officer at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, said:
“We want to reassure patients and the public that services will continue during this period of industrial action. Patients should attend appointments as planned unless contacted directly by the Trust.
“Patient safety remains our top priority, and our multi disciplinary teams with medical input will continue to work together to provide high quality care.
“We are grateful to all our colleagues at Oxford Health who will be supporting patients during this time.”
Nationally, the NHS is also asking the public to play their part during the period of industrial action by:
Looking after themselves and checking in on vulnerable family members, friends, and neighbours
Ensuring they have enough prescribed medication (via the NHS App or their GP practice)
Travelling with a stocked first aid kit when away from home
As usual, anyone needing urgent medical advice should contact NHS 111. In an emergency, please dial 999.

Today marks World Bipolar Day, which aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and challenge discrimination faced by people living with disorder.

World Bipolar Day provides an opportunity to highlight our specialist Bipolar Disorder Research Clinic which is helping to improve understanding, treatment and care for people living with the condition.

Adults can self‑refer or be referred by their GP or another specialist to the clinic, and patients are assessed by experienced clinical and research teams.

For those who choose to, clinic visits also open the door to taking part in research studies, helping shape future treatments while receiving detailed specialist assessment.

Overcoming an Eating Disorder isn’t always a straightforward journey. There can be setbacks and times when it feels as though you’re not progressing, but there is hope and there is recovery.

Imogen shares her story of overcoming anorexia, and how that journey has shaped the person she is today.

If you’re a young person considering or receiving help from CAMHS — or someone supporting them — this is for you 💙

We asked former Eating Disorder patients what they would say, if they could send a message to someone struggling right now.

Right now, at least 1.25 million people in the UK are living with an
eating disorder - and this doesn't include the partners, friends and
family members affected too.
You are not alone.
Help is available.

We asked former Eating Disorder patients what they would say, if they could send a message to someone struggling right now.

Rachel asked us to say,

“I believe in you. There is hope and a future you belong in - because you deserve to know what happiness feels like. You will be happy again, even though it feels impossible, it is possible.”

“You don’t have to fight for your old life, you can create a new one.”

She also has a message for carers.

“it’s not always about fixing me, sometimes I just need you to sit in the dark with me, holding the hope, waiting with me until I am ready to save my own life.”

Right now, at least 1.25 million people in the UK are living with an
eating disorder - and this doesn't include the partners, friends and
family members affected too.
