This week ORC is celebrating 10 years since our first courses were launched in 2015. We have had numerous events taking place so far with more to come!
The first of our week long celebrations started with Celebration events across the county in Banbury, Witney and Didcot. Students came together to create celebratory bunting to be hung at our culminating event this Friday (More info below) Students then created themselves a self care jar or bag, filled with things that help maintain wellbeing on those difficult days. There was a real sense of connection at all of these sessions and students embraced the activities. We held an online Zentangle workshop, Zentangle is a structured method of drawing repetitive, abstract patterns called "tangles" on small pieces of paper, designed to promote relaxation, focus, and creativity. As part of these week long celebrations we are also holding public events, the first one took place online on Monday when we welcomed Dr Khadj Rouf, Consultant Clinical Psychologist to lead a talk on putting Trauma Informed Care into Practice. we had over 40 people join us for this talk and were really grateful to Dr Khadj for giving us her time.
Still to come this week -
This afternoon students will take part in a BIG doodle to create a new mural for our office.
Thursday - Library of Life Launch 2025, brave students will be stepping forward to show their short films about journeys in mental health. There are 10 films to watch, including a new short film about the impact of ORC. This will be held at The Asian Cultural Centre (Oxford) from 6-8pm and is open to anyone.
Friday - The BIG Tea Party - Our culminating event to round off the week. This is a celebration of all the hard work many people have put into creating ORC over the last 10 years and will be held where it all started in 2015 at The Elder Stubbs Allotments (Oxford) from 2-4pm. The event will feature an ORC exhibition, the launch of our new coproduced office mural, creative activities, live music and lots of delicious cake.
