Useful tips for those experiencing anxiety and for those with longstanding trauma issues. For me as well it helps to know that it is ok for us to feel whatever we are feeling. We can put too much pressure on ourselves to feel ‘normal’ in these not normal times. It helps me to be gentle with myself, feel the feelings knowing that they pass much quicker if they are not suppressed. x

💜Maybe you're feeling all the feelings.
💙Maybe you're clearing all the cupboards so that you don't have to feel the feelings.
💚Maybe you've noticed your inner critic is particularly noxious right now with should have's and could have's.
💛Maybe you're too tired to feel anything.
🧡Whatever it is that you are experiencing is OK.
❤️The uncertainty affects everybody's nervous system in different ways, so there is no right way to feel right now.
💜If you recognise that you're feeling overwhelmed, then be with your breath.
💙Notice the movement of your rib cage, notice the change in temperature on your tongue or your nostrils with each inhalation and exhalation, notice how long the in-breath takes and how long the out-breath takes.
💚Or reach out to a friend (or us), be honest with where you're at - now is the time to support each other.💛

Science has shown the health benefits of being in nature. This includes the regulation of our nervous systems, which means basically shifting from our fight or flight response to a calmer way of being. x

There is a lot going on at the moment on a collective level. By keeping it simple and having our awareness in our bodies instead of living in our heads, it may help to navigate through these times. X

Have just come back from being a therapist for a 5 day intensive program working with clients with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
This is my 3rd program and every time it’s different. A common thread between them all however is the courage it takes for these people to get on the table and put their trust in us and the sense of deep compassion that the therapists have, it always puts my faith back in humanity. x

If you are experiencing challenging gut issues, then I highly recommend this book written by my amazing friend Nikki. She is a craniosacral therapist who specialises in the gut and has written this easy to understand book for non-professionals.

1 hour treatment for £30, all proceeds go to Craniosacral Charity

Hello,

I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the still warm days as we move in to Autumn. Since my last newsletter, I have been on several craniosacral courses specialising in the Gut (for those with gut challenges) and also working with the drainage of the brain which is helpful for neuro-degenerative disorders such as Parkinson's and alzeimers etc.

I have done some assisting on a cranio class which I like doing from time to time as it deepens my cranio knowledge and it feels like a little holiday as I get to see my colleagues.

I have also completed my Diplomat which is the most advanced qualification in craniosacral therapy (Masters level). I'm super happy about this 🙂

I am currently giving free 1 hour talks as an introduction to craniosacral Therapy. If you would like me to come and give a talk for a group of people, do let me know.

As well as loving Craniosacral Therapy, I also love to dance. I recently did a 9 day intensive Movement Medicine dance retreat, which was amazing. It is basically a dynamic movement meditation, I am very interested in how we can acknowledge, heal and integrate aspects of our psyche through our bodies in movement, which to me is similar to the emotional work that we do in craniosacral therapy. Also I get to have a good boogie 🙂

In November this year I am again volunteering as a therapist the Upledger Community Program for PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). This is a 5 day intensive program with multi-practitioner treatment. It was originally started in the USA for Vietnam veterans. In the U.K. we work with people who have had to retire early due to PTSD. To raise money for this charity, I am offering to the first 8 people who book a session before the 1st of October 2019 a one hour treatment for £30 (usually £60, only one offer per person) all the proceeds will go to this charity.

If you want to know more about this charity, here is their link: http://www.upledgerprogrammes.org.uk

Wishing you all the best Kiera x

Have come back from an intensive 9 days of Movement Medicine conscious dance practice. It was awesome on many levels!

I love how a lot of the principles of this dance has the same roots as Craniosacral Therapy such as listening to our inner wisdom and supporting our bodies own healing mechanism.

Sounds like a good enough reason for a boogie :)

Just come back from a Movement Medicine dance workshop called Embodied Leadership. I saw this quote by Dr Upledger (who founded Craniosacral Therapy) which for me beautifully illustrates when we have support, we are then able to go out in to the world and help each other to find and live our true purpose in life.

https://www.facebook.com/33152864310/posts/10156269998349311/

Ideally, we should all be able to help each other heal. I believe that everyone on the face of this planet has at least some ability to do that. If you believe you can, and you are willing to open your mind to it, you have unlimited ability to facilitate healing. You can do anything that you allow yourself to do.
~Dr. John E. Upledger
