One of the main things that sets stretching apart from yoga is the 3 points of internal focus called the Tristhana method.
Tri means 3 in Sanskrit and sthana means place.
These 3 points/places of focus consist of Pranayama (breath control), asana/Bandhas (poses/energy locks or seals), and Dristi (looking focus). When we learn to bring focus to these 3 points, throughout our practice, we develop control of our senses, improve focus and increase self awareness of our inner sensations, emotions and mind (interoception).
Of course, it’s difficult to focus on these consistently, that’s part of the practice, but this week, see if you can notice, free of judgement, when your mind wonders and gently remind it to come back to at least one or allof these 3 focal points.
Join me for online Mysore Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 6.30-9am (uk time) to deepen your practice, for community and accountability.
