This weekend was weekend 2 for the new group and we learned the importance of using the SOAP protocol and the associated ARTS structure to assessment..

Liam demonstrates that it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the amount of information a client may be willing to offer but by sticking to SOAP and ARTS we can retain structure in the assessment process and quickly develop a suitable treatment plan!

A big welcome to our new students starting their Level 5 Professional Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy last weekend. Here they are on the first morning taking part in a group discussion on what Soft Tissue Therapy actually is and does. Liam was leading the teaching, ably assisted by Claudia.

The next 10 months will be exciting and challenging, but I'm sure our previous graduates would agree that it will be worth all the hard work!

Only a few weeks until the start of our 10-month BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy, and there are still a couple of places available for anyone wishing to enrol. Congratulations go to our latest group of students who completed their BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy this weekend. Here they are enjoying a well-earned picnic following their final practical assessment on Sunday.

I'm sure they will all enjoy the rewarding opportunities and careers this qualification can give, spending their days helping clients, and enjoying all the positive feedback and many thanks they'll receive in return. Well done for all the hard work!

Liam, Emily and Dean (our senior tutors) tell me they've been a great group to teach and I would like to say a big thank you to them for all their efforts over the past 10 months.

London Marathon NSPCC Soft Tissue Team - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The NSPCC is looking for therapists to treat their London Marathon runners at the NSPCC post marathon reception

Date: Sunday 27 April 2025
Time: 1100-1830
Location: The Mall Galleries (on The Mall just after the finishing line)

Student & Professional Therapist Package: £30 to help towards travelling paid in cash on the day; NSPCC T-Shirt to wear and keep; food and drink supplied; all equipment provided onsite including massage tables, lotions and paper towels so you can travel nice and light on the day!

This is always a relaxed and sociable environment providing lots of photo opportunities and CPD hours, and this event is open to both students and qualified therapists.

TAPING & STRAPPING COURSE - 10 AUGUST

Our Lead Tutor, Liam Coffey, is running this one day workshop designed for soft tissue therapists, sports therapists, remedial instructors, coaches and others working in a sports environment.

The workshop will enable students to understand the principles of taping, and aims to teach the safe application of the supportive and rigid taping techniques therapists will find useful when working in sport at any level.

It covers:
- Taping for joint stability on all major joints - ankle, knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand
- Taping for injury support during the rehabilitation phase
- Acute injury management utilising compression
- Management of specific problems such as ligament injuries, joint sprains, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis and patellofemoral pain
